Saw Parks from a Distance

On my vacation from Chicago to NY via Cinncinatti, I saw seversl of the parks that people talk about here (from a distance). I took some pics and as soon as I get them loaded to my site, I will post them here. Time did not allow us to go to any of them.

While stuck in traffic in Cincinatti, I got to see the first drop on the Beast...wish I had, had the time to ride it

I also saw 6 flags on my approach to NYC

Wow! How could you stand it, seeing all those parks and not being able to go to them, I think I would have gone nuts.

hey,
RCT101,
# 1 is in King's Doninion too, it's awesome, but you can't hear yourself on the way down
# 2 is probably named Flight of Fear if it had anything to do with a flying saucer in area 51 (King's dominion has it too)

how could you have let yourself go by w/o at least taking a ride? some determination you have, i'd have turned into the park because "my car's having problems!!!"

RCT101, Son of Beast isn't the world's first wooden looping coaster. It's the world's first Modern wooden looping coaster. The first wooden looping coaster was Loop The Loop, built in 1903, if I remember correctly. Might have been Flip Flap... can't remember right now, I'm really tired.

First and only wooden looping. There were actually a few, but federal safety guidelines shut them down before long. Remember, this was before underfriction wheels, which keep the coaster cars on the track. Wooden looping coasters were notorious for falling off the track. Probably why Son of Beast came so late compared to steel looping.

I also thinkt he reason the previous looping coasters of the heyday failed because the elliptical loop had not been invented yet...So not only was there the chance the car may jump the track, but also the fact that the ride could in fact break your neck, due to the substantial g-forces that were incurred.

But it is true to say that currently, Son of Beast is the world's only looping wooden coaster.
