Parks in Illinois
Are there any other amusement parks in Illinois other than Great America?

yup, theres Hillcrest Park in Lake Zurich and Kiddieland in Melrose Park. The weird thing is, both parks only have one coaster each, both are called Little Dipper, and they are both junior wood coasters.

Only a minor problem with that list...
Adventureland Park (Addison, Illinois USA) -- Defunct Dinorex (Addison, Illinois USA) Dinorex (Arlington Heights, Illinois USA) Dinorex (Crystal Lake, Illinois USA) Enchanted Castle (Lombard, Illinois USA) Funtown (Chicago, Illinois USA) -- Defunct Haunted Trails (Burbank, Illinois USA) Hillcrest Park (Lemont, Illinois USA) -- Private parties only House of Kicks (Chicago, Illinois USA) Jeepers (Harwood Heights, Illinois USA) Kiddieland (Melrose Park, Illinois USA) Marriott's Great America (Gurnee, Illinois USA) -- Now Six Flags Great America Old Chicago (Bolingbrook, Illinois USA) -- Defunct Riverview Park (Chicago, Illinois USA) -- Defunct Safari Land (Villa Park, Illinois USA) Santa's Village (Dundee, Illinois USA) Six Flags Great America (Gurnee, Illinois USA) -- Formerly Marriott's Great America ----------------- RCDB is a great resource, but it should be checked carefully to determine which parks are still in operation, and which ones have changed names. Most of the sites listed above that are currently operating have one kiddy coaster or one family coaster. Last year, I went to Santa's Village. I can't really recommend this park. They have one adult coaster, and it's quite rough -- it could really use some major maintenance work. The majority of the park is for smaller children. Overall, the park did not look like it was particularly well maintained. Instead, I'd recommend going a bit farther south to Indiana Beach, where you'll find some enjoyable coasters.

Also most of them are not actual amusement parks, just large arcades with some small attractions included.

Here's a better list:
Dinorex (Addison, Illinois USA) Dinorex (Arlington Heights, Illinois USA) Dinorex (Crystal Lake, Illinois USA) Enchanted Castle (Lombard, Illinois USA) Haunted Trails (Burbank, Illinois USA) House of Kicks (Chicago, Illinois USA) Jeepers (Harwood Heights, Illinois USA) Kiddieland (Melrose Park, Illinois USA) Safari Land (Villa Park, Illinois USA) Santa's Village (Dundee, Illinois USA) Six Flags Great America (Gurnee, Illinois USA) Although some are arcades with a minute number of coasters, but an amusement park is: A commercially operated enterprise that offers rides, games, and other forms of entertainment and that's what those parks do. |

With the exception of Six Flags, which of these has the best coasters?

I don't think you're really going to find any great coasters at any of those locations. They're all quite small. Instead, you may wish to consider heading north and west a bit to Wisconsin Dells, WI (about 3 hours from Chicago) -- there are some pretty good coasters there. Or, you could head south a bit to Indiana Beach in Monticello, IN. It's about 2.5 hours south of Chicago, and has some decent coasters.

Haunted Trails would be fun if you were looking for some kick-arse go karts or mini-golf.
But as it stands the only other two "major" parks are Kiddieland and Santa's Village/ Racing Rapids- both which cater to a much younger audience. Just go to SFGAm and check out the city. Plenty more to do here then just amusement parks. Navy Pier has a few rides and is all around a great experience. Go see a play at Second City. Shop Michigan Ave. take a trolly ride. Jenuflect in front of Disney Quest (now defunct) and go eat at Lou Malenaties.
