Favorite Coaster at Disney World
What is your favorite coaster at Disney World Orlando?
Mine is Thunder Mountain Railroad in the Magic Kingdom

Have not been to Disneyworld but at Disneyland I still enjoy the first steel coaster. But I am wondering what they are going to do with SM. I have heard that they already have brand new cars for the trains.

In Orlando, I'd pick the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith at the Disney/MGM Studios.
If I can expand to all Disney parks... Well, I've not been to Japan, but I really enjoyed the version of Space Mountain at Disneyland Paris -- far superior to the U.S. versions of Space Mountain.

Harpo are you aware that the Space Mountain in CA is undergoing a major overhaul. It will be closed until spring 2005. I may be able to get pics of what they are doing from a friend who can get access.

Yes, I'd heard about the Space Mountain closure in California. My understanding is that Disney's trying to overhaul the entire park for their upcoming 50th anniversary.
If they were to change the California Space Mountain into the same ride as the Paris version, it would be more than a renovation: it'd be a total replacement. The Paris version has a launched lift hill (sort of like The Hulk at Islands of Adventure, but a bit more creative), and it is a looping coaster. My guess is that Disney would like to renovate some of the classic rides (like Space Mountain and Matterhorn) to be similar to when the rides opened. But, that's just a guess. If they do replace it with a version similar to Paris, then folks in California are in for a pleasant treat.

I probably have some, but I'm going to have to dig around for them. That trip was December 1998/January 1999, with the focus being on visiting the city and attending a New Year's Eve party at the Palace of Versailles. When I get the chance, I'll see what I can dig up.

Looping would be nice, but I just don't see how they would fit that into the area the ride uses. It is such a compact area to begin with.

My fav coaster would have to be Matterhorn. I went to both parks like 15 years ago, so there wasn't as much there as there is today.I was going to go to WDW again but i found out they took out Mr. Toads Wild Ride. so i am not making a return anytime soon. Space Mountain was cool, but the asteroids looked like chocolate chip cookies.

There are other cool things at WDW that would be good as themeing for a new coaster...like the Alien attraction, that turned into a coaster ride with aliens that jump out at you would be cool.

BTW: Theres not much to take pictures. I looke inside just the other day and they've done no tearing of the track out from what I saw. Im sure they've just torn out the consoles, computers and wiring. That's about it. You know how Disney is with building things |

I found my pictures of Paris. Unfortunately, I only took a few pictures at Disneyland Paris. Those pictures were of the Disneyland hotel, the castle (I think they call their Chateau de la Belle Noir, but I'd have to look it up, and I don't feel like doing that right now!), and Main Street USA. Some of the photos were night shots of the Christmas lights.
I'm not sure why I didn't take pictures elsewhere in the park. However, when I get the chance, I'm going to look through the videos I filmed over there -- maybe I have it on videotape rather than photos. Also, the two people I was with were a bit impatient, so that might be why I refrained from taking photos. I just don't recall for certain. If I find it on my videotapes (when I have the chance to look), if I can manage to capture a shot, I'll do so. Unfortunately, my video capture hardware is a bit flaky, so I'm not sure if it'll work, but, when time allows and if I have a good shot, I'll try. Probably won't happen this week, however.
