Some Dragster info

I went to CP this evening (Saturday, July 19) and here's some Dragster info I got:

Well first of all, I got to see a rollback with a full train! I know it's not that unusual, I've seen them before on empty trains and on trains the ride ops are on, but never with a full train of people so I thought it was pretty cool. I wish I was on there when it happened!

I got there about 7:00 tonight and it was closed temporarily for mechanical problems. I talked to the worker at the head of the line and he told me that the entire Dragster crew almost quit today. I was there yesterday as well and was waiting in line when the ride broke down a little after 6:00. He told me that they finally got it working and were told to start running it again at 11:10 last night- AFTER the park had closed- to run everyone through the line. Needless to say it was a loooooong night for the crew. Then they were told that today the ride wouldn't be opening so they had the day off. They all went places, like to the beach or to visit friends and family. He drove 3 hours to visit his parents. Then they were all called at 4:30 this afternoon and told to return to work immediately and they would be compensated. Their compensation was an extra dollar per hour worked today ($7.25 instead of $6.25- just a few dollars extra in all). He said they were so mad they almost just quit but they decided to just go to work today and decide what they were going to do at the end of the day. But he said "we all hate this ride, none of us want to be here, we refuse to wear the dragster pins and all the dragster stuff we're supposed to wear". I'm surprised that with as well as Cedar Point takes care of their guests, they'd do this to their employees. It's one thing to tell them they're on standby for today, don't go anywhere too far or make big plans, but to tell them it's a full day off and then change their minds, then barely give them anything in compensation is just not right. I'm sure they won't all quit, but I can't say I'd blame them if they did.
