Cedar Points Next Coaster Project
What do you think or recommend it should be? If you ask me, i say it should be a nice LONG B&M florless, longer than the BMKF so they can break that record, also make it tall and fast, i love floorless coasters because of their smoothness, they're just so.. smooth, anyway they could build it going aroun camoer village and around the mean streak, maybe a little on the north west shore of the penninsula seems perfect to me

As much as I hate to say it, I think their next coaster should be a family coaster. Cedar Point has some great kids areas, but most people only think of big roller coasters when they think of Cedar Point. They don't think about Camp Snoopy, Peanuts Playground, or Kiddy Kingdom. So, to attract more families, I think they should do a new family coaster.
In this instance, I believe the coaster should be a wooden coaster, surrounding Kiddy Kingdom. It could essentially form the "castle walls" for the Kingdom. If I were designing it, I would make an effort to use the porch on the east side of the Coliseum for the loading platform. Drop out of the platform and turn left, going along the north side of the Coliseum, where the lift rises. Then, perform a curving drop heading south on the west side of the Coliseum, and travel clockwise around Peanuts Playground. Return on the north side of the Coliseum, and proceed to make a clockwise circle around Kiddy Kingdom, returning to the station from the south. In my opinion, such a layout would provide a ride a bit better than Zach's Zoomer at Michigan's Adventure. It would be longer than Woodstock's Express, but would provide a similar intensity. (Of course, a smaller option would simply circle Kiddy Kingdom, forgetting about Peanuts Playground.) As for an adult coaster, I'd like to see a creative B&M Flyer that swoops over Lake Erie.

Is someone reliving their childhood?
I think another family coaster would be awesome, that would be cool to have the longest and fastest kiddie coaster lol! ![]()

I'm not really all that concerned with theming at Cedar Point, but if it fits into the structure of what's already there, I have no problem with it. In fact, I would not mind seeing more ride theming, but the ride itself is the most important part. I don't want to see the park skimp on the ride design in favor of theming, but if they can create a great ride and still have funds available for a theme, I'm all for that.
I can't claim total credit for the idea. Rye Playland in New York has a kiddy area that is surrounded by a wood coaster. When I saw that, I figured such a concept would be an excellent fit for Cedar Point's Kiddy Kingdom. Additionally, for years I've wanted to see some form of usage for the upper level of the Coliseum. The ballroom is really something. Perhaps, if a ride were launching up there, it might yield a good excuse to put on some live shows in the ballroom.

I think CP will take a break from record-breaking rides in 2004 and just build a kiddy coaster. I think they'll wait until 2005 to build another "major" coaster and I am hoping for a B&M Flyer. (It would, of course, have to be the world's tallest and fastest flyer out of both the B&M and Vekoma kinds)

Here's a question...
Will the planned addition of an indoor waterpark to the Radisson resort be considered as Cedar Point's 2004 expansion? Or will it be in addition to a 2004 change in the park? My guess is that the indoor waterpark at the Radisson would be viewed as a separate project, hence something new will still be added at Cedar Point. There's a possibility that a 2004 project would be an addition to Soak City, but if a water park is to be built at the Radisson, I believe a Soak City addition would be somewhat unlikely. (However, I also think Soak City is overdue for an addition.) Cedar Point management still remembers a year when nothing was added to the park. (That was in the lat 1970's.) During that summer, attendance was much lower than the previous year. They vowed at that time to never let a year go by without something being added to the park. Hopefully they will continue to remember that vow for 2004! Any thoughts?

I think the Radisson thing would be a separate expansion for the good of the hotel. With Great Bear Lodge and the new Kalahari Resort going up (both have waterparks) CP needs a hotel with one to draw crowds to stay there so the would get the money. Its still up in the air however and I hope it doesn't stop the park from getting anything new.

its funny talkin about kiddie coasters, and major coasters and stuff, but Cedar Point is beginning to run out of room! what are they going to do start filling up lake erie? or take out half the parking lot and put a parking lot on the mainland? I hate to say it but Cedar Points record breaking rides are going to be comming to a stand still soon, ..... well unless someone who disagrees with me has a valid point that it isnt....

psssssst CP isn't running out of room. Besides if they were running out of room they COULD destroy the parking lot and have 64 acres of land.

Cedar Point has a lot more room than you would think.
You should take a look at Indiana Beach in Monticello, IN. They've managed to cram a whole bunch of stuff into a very small space. With some creativity, Cedar Point can add a whole lot without having to move much around. However, it is also true that Cedar Point owns lots of land on First Street. They could build a parking structure on the mainland side of the Causeway, freeing up all that parking lot space on The Point. With the addition of Lighthouse Point, I wouldn't be too surprised if, at some time, Cedar Point replaced the old part of Camper Village with a new midway. Lighthouse Point would continue to provide the needed camper space, while a new midway in that direction would provide an easy access gate for Sandcastle Suites and Lighthouse Point guests. Without making such "drastic" moves, however, there's also an option of building more on "Millennium Island." An office cleaner I once knew indicated that he saw some tentative plans for a bridge coming from what is currently the Camp Snoopy area onto Millennium Island. (That was quite some time ago, before Camp Snoopy existed, but it shows that such an expansion has been considered as an option.) I know that Cedar Point would like to move all housing off The Point, which would eliminate the Gold Dorms and the Cedars Employee Hotel. These options might not happen as I understand there is resistance due to the age of the structures -- preservationists wish for the structures to remain. But, eliminating either would open up quite a bit of space. Don't be surprised if the Aquatic Stadium is torn down in the not-too-distant future to make way for more attractions, with a bit more use of the beach. Interestingly, way back in 1978 (when Gemini was new), guests started commenting, "Gee, they're running out of space." They've managed to add 11 more coasters since then!

It is rumor that they are planning a new coaster the size and speed of TTD in the next few years. (I don't know if it will be the next one) It will be a normal type Roller Coaster like MF. I just heard this from someone who works at the park. I am sure they will go bigger than TTD but I don't know how soon.

honestly i think both cp and mm need to take a break from the coaster race and concentrate on getting rid of old thrill rides and add some new state of the art stuff. i mean it is kinda funny seeing all these high tech rollercoasters and 30 year old rides parked next to them, if theyre gonna stay updeated with the coasters they at least need to keep up with the other rides also.

Why? Part of having a park with rides is having a balance of cutting edge and Oldskool thrills. Maybe ADDING a few new rides without removing one, like say a Giant Huss ride and some other modern spin and go puke rides, and leave the exsisting one. That is one thing Older parks like CP and Kennywood, for example, have over other newer parks. History and Cutting edge thrills. CP's Next project will be an Intamin Woodie! please get a good woodie in that park!

If Cedar Point Does Decide To Take Out a Thrill Ride I would Expect it to Be Demon Drop, even though i hope that never happens, and what do you think about converting TTD into a Flying coaster that would be insane

Nitro isn't a floorless, but a floorless about the size if not taller would be awesome!
