HersheyPark's 10th coaster for 2004 - OFFICIAL.

THE SECRET'S FINALLY OUT!

HERSHEYPARK LAUNCHES ITS 10TH COASTER IN 2004!

The world's FIRST hydraulic launch coaster featuring inversions will race into HERSHEYPARK for the 2004 season, bringing the Park's herd of roller coasters to a perfect ten.

Built by world renowned Intamin AG of Switzerland, the new high speed coaster will accelerate from 0 to 72 miles per hour in approximately 2 seconds! Climbing a nearly vertical incline to a height of 150 feet and then plummeting approximately 180 feet at a 90 degree angle, the new coaster will weave its way through nearly four and one half acres of HERSHEYPARK. Riding on 2,600 feet of steel track, the coaster will interact with three HERSHEYPARK rides - the Monorail, Dry Gulch Railroad, and the Trailblazer - and cross over Spring Creek twice. The station house for the new coaster will be located in the Pioneer Frontier section of the Park and will feature a dual rider loading/unloading operation. Coaster lovers will be treated to several customized, unique elements:

- Top Hat (150 feet)
- Power Drop (approximately 180 feet)
- Cobra Loop (135 feet)
- Barrel Rolls
- Flying Snake Dive

The new coaster features two trains, 20 passengers per train for a theoretical ride capacity of 1,200 riders per hour.

Ride time is approximately 60 action-packed sections!

NOW, HERE'S WHERE YOU COME IN!

It's time to name the new HERSHEYPARK Coaster! The search for a name has been narrowed to three choices:

- Steel Stampede
- Renegade
- Storm Runner

We can't decide which one's best, so we need your help to choose the winner! To vote for your choice visit the HERSHEYPARK Name the Coaster Roundup at http://www.Hersheypark.com. Or, call 1-866-HPK-2004. Voting starts today, August 5, at High Noon and continues through midnight, August 19. Vote once, vote twice - vote all you want! The winning name will be announced at a later date.

Also visit http://www.Hersheypark.com for a virtual movie of the new 2004 coaster and all the ride details.

Very interesting. The virtual movie makes it look like it's going to be a good coaster. I'm rooting for the name "Renegade."

Wow! I am not surprised that Hershey Park would build a ride like this. I just don't believe it is actually happening. I hope HP has a good working relationship with Intamin AG, if not this could be a sad day for HP.

Well looks like i will be hitting HP next season.

Okay, I'm officially impressed. It sounds like it will be a great coaster. I voted for Renegade, and I won't be surprised if that name wins. By the way, what the heck is a Flying Snake Dive? Never heard of that inversion.

Well, if Intamin does as marvelous a job on that hydraulic launch coaster as they've done with Dragster, then, clearly, here's what Hersheypark should name the coaster: Currently Closed. It would save a lot of sign printing.

I hope Hershey has better luck!

hahaha that is true, but hey ya never know maybe intamin will figure out what they did wrong (they better!!!) and it may work for Hersey and then they can come over here and fix the dragster... otherwise im not gunna go there.. CP is only a 45 min drive, and ive been on the dragster enough

In all honesty, they probably wont have as much trouble with HP's coaster- it wouldnt take as much force to launch a train up a 150 ft top hat as it does to launch up a 420 ft top hat. But then again, I am not sure about the acceleration there... it may be just the same amount of force.

Well 0-70 is alot of force. that would be some where between XL and WT i know totally different launches but time and speed is comparable. size of "hills" too. This will be a great coaster! I am excited to see its layout.

Hershey is turning out to be an awesome park! I was really impressed with all that they had when I visited a couple of years ago...They definitly exceded my expectations!
I'm just excited to see a hydraulic launch coaster do more than go up and come down....

Random note: Have you guys heard that there is a spa at Hershey where they completely cover you in chocolate? Is this a Rumor?
