Can someone check if CPUSPEED=# works please!

I've seen this command:

CPUSPEED=#

where # = say 1600, in various guides as a way as forcing UT to change what clock speed it uses for its base speed calculations.

But, I can't get it to work via either the Console or appended to the shortcut to start the game. I'm running UT GOTY 436, and the console claims it's an unrecognised command.

Could someone please try this on their version and see if it works for me, and if so tell me exactly how they got it to work..

I really need to set this variable to get round the laptop running too fast problem on a Centrino (which you can't disable the Speedstep stuff on) chip based laptop.

Many thanks in advance..

it's not console command but rather a commandline switch. Try making a bat file (or a shortcut) on the System directory with this in it:
unrealtournament.exe -CPUSPEED=1600

FireWire, you're a legend, that's sussed it!

I changed the desktop shortcut to:

"C:\Program Files \UnrealTournament\System\UnrealTournament.exe" -CPUSPEED=1500

and now everythings peachy!

Many Many thanks!

Just curious. What difference did you notice after using the switch?

Basically, as I understand it UT calculates how fast it should run from the CPU speed for your computer. Consequently when you change the CPU speed the entire speed UT runs at changes.

I.e. if you have a 1.6Ghz CPU and you add -CPUSPEED=3.2 to the link, UT runs at half speed (including the intro)

I needed the fix because the Speedstep in the laptop mean't UT had decided a 1.6Ghz pc was a 600Mhz and so was running about 2.5X faster than it was supposed to (which ruins LAN games)

So how come this isn't the ultimate cheat?

If I just set my CPU speed say 10% less than it really is, then I will move 10% faster than I should... and whip everyone elses arse in the LAN games I play!!??

My cpu runs at 1800, so I have it set it at 1500, and it's sort of all choppy. Bleh. So I removed it.

now go to 'save in' ,save it to your Unreal Tournament System folder.

Now all you have to do is create a shortcut
to do this right click and hold on the UnrealTournament.bat in your Unreal Tournament System folder and drag it to your desktop, unrelease the button and it will say create shortcuts here
