Dual Wield Hand Axes!
I started a new game a couple of days ago (having given up with my other dreadful party) and one of the characters I made was a female human rogue wielding two hand axes. I had her pick up Fruella's cleaver (It is a hand axe) and she is wielding that in her primary hand and a crafted +2 hand axe in the other (is +3 bugged?). Her name is Thee Eave and she pretty much is ruling anything she comes into contact with at this point. She is even doing much more damage than my two fighters.
Also, I just saw in another thread that there is another awesome hand axe in the game. Anyone have any info on this?

I found something called a great cleaver that was a one hand weapon and had a nice critical range 17-20 or something like that. I tried it out and went back to my greatsword.

There are more great cleavers in the game, and you can use the "magic weapon" spell bug to enchant them, I have heard rumor of a magical hand axe in the game, but it must be on level 3 or lower cuz I haven't found it yet.
the Great Cleaver is an anomoly, it works with both hand axe and battle axe feats, and is really overpowered to boot. D~ |

You beat me to it. I was going to start another game with a dual-wielding handaxe fighter. I was also tempted to make a barbarian based off the villian-Indian in the movie "Last of the Mohicans" -- the one with the club and dagger combination. Sure, it may not be the most powergamerish mix of weapons for d&d, but that was one mean dude.

I am just loving my character. Looks pretty cool with the cleaver in one hand and the hand axe in the other. My new favorite weapon. Able to switch from butchering poultry to making kindling to whipping baddies without a moments notice.

Fruella's "battle axe-weapon focus" feat does not work with her own great cleaver. Nor does the feat "martial weapon-Battleaxe" make a non-fighter skilled in using it. So I believe its only a hand-axe & not a battle-axe. |

The great cleavers are unbalanced. You can also get weapon finesse (handaxe) to work with them. If only the critical threats were implemented properly these would be far and away the most powerful one-handed weapons.
I mean come on. They do d10 damage, critical on a 17-20 for 3x damage, accept handaxe and battleaxe feats. Much more powerful than other weapons. Compare to the ******* sword or the dwarven waraxe, which both need exotic weapon feats (unless you are a dwarf with the waraxe) and it’s pretty clear that these weapons seriously outmatch the others. I’ve got a rogue8/barbarian2 who is dual wielding two cleavers +1 with frost and shock. Add in the sneak attack and elemental damage and that’s d10 + 4d6 sneak +d6 frost +d6 shock with three attacks per round. Plus, add in the weapon finesse and you’ve got a killing machine. Criticals are absolutely devastating. Talk about a munchkinfest…. |

Er, they don't accept battleaxe feats. I've tried Wep. Focus battleaxe with them, and it didn't do a thing.
