Telefrag anyone?

I haven't played any CTF in the demo online, but the instant action sessions I've had make it seem like it's exceedingly difficult if not impossible to get a telefrag. Any one else notice this? Or do I just need practice?

your not the only one to notice this.

myself, I think it's a bloody brilliant idea to get rid of/make ALOT harder to telefrag.

it's a transportation device, not a weapon!

I was bored today and I was trying to telefrag a bot
for the fun of it... Didn't happen the entire time.

No more wins by just telefrag.

If it wasn't made as a weapon also then they would have never put telefraging in the game, they could just make telefraging non existant if they wanted to.

Exactly!

something SHOULD happen when you teleport DIRECTLY to the location a person is, such as if they are right on top of the beacon when you teleport...but in 2k3 it was get it within 5 meters and you gibbed them

yeah, i was playing a game fo BR online, and i happened to spawn right as the ball carrier was runnign past me... but i had no weapons, so i pulled out my TL, and figured "this shoudl be fun".

i followed him for some time,a nd must have thrown my TL at him a godo 10 times, and didnt get him once. and i was pretty efficient at telefrags back in UT2k3...

not necessarily a bad thing, though... ive played with people tha were extremely good at Telefragging, and it was no fun.

I'm thankful that telefrag appears to be more difficult. That's the one thing I never liked about UT99...too easy to telefrag...there's no sport in that...I want to fight my enemies head on...like a MAN! Not fight some invisible guy beaming all over the place. It gets boring fast.

Sorry, now I just have to rant about my skills.
Someone was just about to score a goal in BR when I jumped down from the little platform and telefragged them just in time. It was incredibly wonderful, but no one else noticed.
Oh yeah...

has anybody noticed how its pretty easy to telefrag when the other guy is facing you, but almost impossible to telefrag in the back? you can do it on an angle also, but not consistently.

I believe it has something to do with the large hitboxes. If you teleport within several feet of another player, and your hitbox overlaps theirs, you get the telefrag. I thought there used to be a thread on this somewhere in this forum.

its

Its almost like the trans bounces off of people more now. If they are facing you and you shoot it at them, then they are probably going to walk over it, if theyre moving away and you shoot it I dont think a telefrag is possible unless you manage to get it in front of them.

It's really hard for me to telefrag now. To me it's not worth the risk anymore to telefrag unless I'm totally out of weapons, and then I'd rather just run away and resupply.

I don't mind it actually.

The reason it's so hard now is because unless you aim your TL right below the enemy, it's no good.

Unlike UT2003 or UT, if u shoot it at the enemy player's body, it bounces off.

It is a very welcome improvement for me.
The telefragging is far too easy in UT2k3. Makes the weapon overpowered.

Like everything else, it will take some getting used to, and lots of practice. For me anyways.

I love shooting the translocator, killing the device with my assault rifle, translocating...

"DarkHydra tried to go where no man has gone before!"

It's nice that they toned down the telefrag. It was ridiculously easy

Did that in UT2k3 as well, but I think they decreased the telefrag radius.
It's true, it's very easy to telefrag someone moving towards you because they walk over the disc.
tbh, I think doing a telefrag from behind might be a bit TOO hard now... I would've prefered it if the TL made a lot of noise and was easier to telefrag from behind than from the front, so as to force flagcarriers to face their attackers.

the hitboxes are smaller...really small.
I've been a hair away from a guys head trying to sniper him and still didn't touch him..I had to hit him DEAD ON in order to sniper him off. If the hit boxes were large...I would have easily gotten him the first time.

it would be cool if they made it so if someone was right ontop the beacon when you teleported they got gibbed, or if they are within your hitbox you get stuck together

Yes, I think UT2K4 has smaller hitboxes than we saw in 2K3. And that, IMO, is a good thing.

I got an accidental telefrag my first online CTF match... but whenever I've tried since then, I haven't managed it.

Just played ctf in ut2004 and had 3 telefrags in 1 game. The players where not all ut2003 players i noticed but i can tell you it still works.Id. you need to be more accurate and have better timing, when the translock hits the enemy and bounces back a little its too late, you have to telleport exactly when it hits the enemy.

Actually your statement is bass akwards! The trans locator is primarily a weapon, then a transportation device.

And I fully agree that it needs adjusting in 2004. From UT to 2003 it was a good transition, but it was close to perfect in 2003, it would be greatly appreciated if they could make it work more like 2003!

Its about time. One of the reasons I quite playing br was because of these telefragging *****s. They couldnt frag their way out of a wet paper bag with weapons, yet had near perfect control over telefragging.
