Newbie question about funding levels & build queues

Hi...

MOO3 seems like a fine game, but there are some elements that I just don't understand, and the documentation ("The Encyclopedia") just does not address them.

Specifically, I don't understand the two symbols that sometimes appear next to the planetary funding levels and build queue sliders on the planetary economics panel. The first symbol is a red circle with a line through it. The second symbold is what looks like an orange glass or container. I just don't understand what these symbols mean, and I was hoping that somebody could explain them.

Thanks in advance.

Check out the player mod forum and download the Encyclopedia mod, it's much better than the original.

I think this is actually covered in the manual which is suprising, it really is a crap manual.

Anyway, the red circle with a line through it means that there is nothing you could spend money on in that area, it's usually seen next to the planetary build que when you've built all upgrades available.

I assume the orange "glass" is actually an exclamation (!) mark. It shows that some money will be wasted during the cycle because not enough was being built on the planet. For example if you build marines on a high industry world you'll be wasting money because you could be building ships. This also happens if you lock the build que with only one item in it, if you put two ships in the que before locking then you don't get the orange !.

Wag2003 has said it all really...
Although if tou get an exclamation mark the money left over isn't wasted, it goes back into your planet treasury and isn't used.

"Wasted" is such a strong word. Think of it as "Invested" to lower the overdrive pressures on your industry
