Magnate Civs

I understand what magnate civs are, but I don't know what possible civs there are. I am playing Imsaeis and have found Gnolom and Somethin' Ehta or whatever. I have no idea what civs to look for or what bonueses each gives. Can ya fill me in on these complicated primatives?

Rhea - Gargantua
Audrieh - Plant
Phaigour - Fungal
Brye Ehts - non-corporeal
Ajadar - protoplasm
Darlocks - metashifters

I think that's it. Let me know if I missed any.

I've had two (and a third one hop away), but never four in the same system is awesome.

Do you use the "frequent specials" settings?

If not, I suggest getting a lottery ticket.

The best I had was two splinter colonies in the same system, just a single hop from my home world. Both planets were rich and fertile, one a size 6 and the other a size 8.

Talk about an early jump!

I remember having a splinter colony and a magnate in my home system once, and one of the other planets was Sweet Spot ot Paradise so that was pretty cool. Unfortunately all the surrounding systems were red for about 3 jumps Can't remember if they were any good for the magnate civ though

Some more info on Magnates

You asked which ones to look for ?

Here is my humble advise:

1) Take them all. Especially in the early game they give a population boost that you really can use.

2) Most useful is the fact tjhat they will have different planet preference then your race. You are an Etherean ? So you like big, high gravity worlds.
A magnate race could make good use of your smaller planets. Look up what is the planet preference for your magnates (readme file, I think, contains that info, too), build colony ships at their planets and send them to such planets. (You can get a patch here somewhere that displays colony ship races, or just make the colony ship twice named Colony 1.1 and 1.2 and build 1.1 with etherian and 1.2 on gnolam worlds to keep track of the races in the available ship list. It is well worth it to be able to make use of the smaler planets, too as an Etherean.

3) Some of the guys like the Rhea you have should be building your ground troops (they show which race they are automatically) Have a look at the unit descriptions and statistics in your army window. A Rhea Marine will be a lot tougher than your original Etherean. Let the Rhea build your ground troops, it helps a lot !

I hope I did not tell you things you knew already and that you will find this useful....

So do I. I think I might have gotten two magnate civs. in my home system once. That's it though.

Would you like to buy me a lotto ticket? Or even a bottle of Pepsi (I'll split the $1 billion dollars 50/50)? How about we go to a casino and you can play the slot machines until we're both filthy rich? .

4 magnates (plus one more nearby) is probably just as lucky!
