I-War 1.24 on WinXP

Hi,

Recently decided its about time I tried to finish I-War (European version) so loaded it up on my PC running Windows XP (boo) and for once one of my old games actually runs on it, but not without crashing out to desktop with no error message when I try start a mission a second time without quiting and rebooting the game so got the 3dfx and 1.24 patch but now it dumps out to desktop after the I-War intro screen comes up. Ive tried running it in different compatability modes but it makes no difference. Is there anything else I can do to run the fully patched game in XP or am I stuck with just running the original version?

You are running the glidewrapper or at least disabling hardware acceleration right? Other than that, I guess it'd be ok to run it in whatever works, unless the patch fixes something critical.

The glidewrapper is almost essential in getting the game working reliably in XP.

You still get that with the glide wrapper though.

The Glidewrapper seems to have helped, I can run the 3dfx version by using IWar.exe and selecting the vodoo renderer 2 but the game.exe from the 1.24 patch dosnt work and now the game crashes out to desktop at the end of every mission wether successful or not. Good thing the game dosnt take long to load. Thanks for your help.

The CTD at the end of a mission is a known problem. So far CTD has NOT occured to me in like three or four missions. Hopefully it could be fixed at some point in the future.
