Flickering Screen Problem

Just got the game and I'm having a graphics problem. Just after the startup/load screen; the screen starts flickering. This continues through the full motion intro and onto the game itself. The game will actually run fine. And looks good. But the flickering problem persists. And actually makes it unplayable. Sometimes I can make out a timegate and atari logo (flickering looks like the load screen).
I have a new Emachine
3000+amd
512 ram
integrated nvidia geforce 4

I have all the latest drivers and updates, and even disabled all my background programs like this webpage suggested. But none of this helps. I'm playing Battlefield Vietnam, Call of Duty, and RCT3 with no problems. (although the lag on a RCT3 sandbox park can get bad after about 10 coaters are running... but that is a different issue altogther.)
Just wondering if anyone else out there has heard of this. No patch yet?

Jitz,

Can you post your DXDiag or send it to support@timegate.com? The problem is most certainly video card related, and we need to know specifically which model you're using.

flickering problem

It turns out I had a conflict between drivers. I had updated drivers, but never restarted before trying to play the game. As soon as I rebooted; the game ran fine. The only lag I get is when a whole lot of enemies are engaging at the same time. And I've got the options set pretty high.

Hey, Im having he same problem he is. Unfortunately its not such a quick fix, I updated my drivers 2 weeks ago and everything else runs fine, Im running a Geforce 5600 XT 256 meg ram On AGP. I've checked for newer drivers but im running the latest ones. Tried rebooting, Tried changing video settings both ingame and oncard, Can't seem to figure it out. I'll send the info to that addy you had posted in the previous reply. But for the most part, The intro looks really cool! (The parts i seen that is lol)

flickering Screen

It turns out this is an ongoing problem.
Anytime I play a game that is not at the same resolution, and then play Axis and Allies; I have to restart the computer in order for the game to play without the flickering. I'm not sure what causes this.
The worst is switching from Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 (800 X 600) to A & A (940 X 600 )
I think it is a driver conflict, just not too suave to figure it out.

Jitz,

There may be some issues displaying at non-standard resolutions. Please try displaying the game at 800x600 and see if that fixes the issue.

Flickering Screen then System Reboot

Yep... I have a expensive Sony notebook, P4 with ATI Radeon 9000 Graphics. I loading this game and everything was fine until I started the tutorial. The landscape started flickering and then my notebook rebooted !!! After 3 times I decided to check for a new ATI driver....but nothing there. But wait....I have loaded several other brand new games and all work fine.

I guess this is just another example of software released that was not ready. I think I just wasted $45. This is the type of product that Best Buy should take off their shelves until patches are ready...

I too had this problem using a GeForce FX5700 256mb. It seems to have been solved by going into the video card settings and turning off Vertical Sync.

Dont know why this would be, but seeing that there's an endorsement for ATI with this product one would assume that maybe a full range of testing with Nvidia chipsets wasn't done.

Update your video drivers or check the settings to see if you can static the refresh rates for each resolution. The games may be setting another refresh rate and A&A might not be forcing it to change.

All that means is that ATI paid them to suggest ATI cards for the game. It could also have been that ATI provided some hardware or software to TimeGate to help in the development and testing of the game. I'm sure TG didn't ignore everyone else though, and the game looks great on my Geforce FX 5200 Ultra.
