It would be nice to be able to get rid of the blue and red patchs on the units. For example get ride of the red/blue arm bands on the infantry units.

I voted to give folks the option of turning them off. Personally, I think the patches are a great feature and I would never turn them off, but I know that I don't speak for everyone. The more options the better!
