File formats? XMV=BIK, NoMovies

Would a thread just to consolidate knowledge about file-formats etc be a good idea?
(ie keep the discussion in 'lets get started', summarise results here to make it easier to find)

Just to start with what I've found, XMV files are really BIK files and can be played with the RAD tools viewer and probably others.

To suppress all the startup movies just find the relevant file and rename it

eg rename legal.xmv to legal.vmx
nvidia.xmv to nvidia.vmx
attract.xmv to attract.vmx
etc

(filenames are from memory, may be slightly wrong)

you could just delete them, but its safer to rename........

Anything else known?

Cheers,
Keith

So how do you view XMV files. There is alot of them, like The making of Driv3r and others. Do i just rename them like you said, or is there a player that can play them?

Well I don't have the game, but if a movie file is extended .xmv, I would rename it to .wmv and watch it on windows media player, or at least try to watch it on there.

You don't have to rename them, just use the bink player in radtools, some of them don't play with sound because the game creates a collage playing several clips at a time for effect.
