Custom Theme: |B|L|O|X| Released

Pumper's (AKA JCat) Blox version 1.1 Release!

Blox introduces basic building 'blocks' in various shapes and sizes, including a number of much needed quarter titles. Most of these objects will remind you of Lego pieces, but there are some interesting generic items as well.

Release Notes:

- Quarter tile objects are handled a bit differently then the standard size - play around with rotating these items (Z key) if you can't find a good fit.

- Glass, although transparent, may hide some objects placed on the opposite side (a mystery effect which all modders are still trying to figure out).

- All items can be colorized - except the Chrome Cube.

- As with the previous theme packs that have been released, there is no collision detection - which overall, is a plus.

- Unwanted Blox on your landscape, must be deleted individually.

- Blox was designed for the North American version of RollerCoaster Tycoon 3. For installion or in game problems, please check out the Dark Ride Set
or Klinn's Electro-Shock threads as both answer many related questions.

Instructions
Download the Pumper_Blox1.zip file
Unzip it anywhere on your hard drive; this will leave you with a self installing filed called: Pumper_Blox.exe

Click the Pumper_Blox.exe icon, and the program will display the directory where it will install the theme pack folder, which should appear as follows:

c:\program files\atari\rollercoaster tycoon® 3\style\themed

Just click the UNZIP button, and it will install. Load RCT3, and stack away!

The Silly Bonus Item: Now you too can cover up your vendor or Facility!

DOWNLOAD BLOX THEME (180 KB)

The BLOX theme set was thoroughly tested. Although I don't foresee any problems, it's best to back up any saved coasters, parks etc. If you feel any of this scenery is causing havoc with your game, you can easily remove this set by going in to your Program Files/Rollercoaster Tycoon 3/Styles/Themed/folder, and look for the folder Pumper_BLOX and delete it. Remember, if you download this user-made set, you are accepting full responsibility, as this add-on is not supported by Frontier or Atari.

Thanks to Marnetmar for testing out the set before release.

Looks great, Pumper!

I think the second, smaller, screenshot shows off the new set even better than the first one. That red-orange 4-way covered intersection looks cool, and the string of 4-dot pieces really says "Le...", I mean "Blox".

Well done!

Too cool
I was waiting for someone to make a lego theme!
Make sure you have a lot of really generic peices!
Corners, roofs, etc. Like the regular legos.

Thanks for the comments - there's plenty of generic pieces. Also, when combined with the existing RCT3 scenery, the combinations can be pretty interesting, giving them a non-Lego look if you prefer.

The smaller screen shot was taken shortly after, but was shrunk down because FRAPS did a strange capture with bizarre artifacting when it was hi-res. I didn't save the shot "in game", so I sized it small so the strange blur didn't show... should have saved that screen, but there's more where that came from. Thanks again

Pumper,

Do you play RCT2?

If so, you may want to check out a building blocks custom scenery set by ToonTowner. I don't have screens ATM but ill try and get some up.

The rct2 building blocks were someone similar to these, but allowed for more possibilities. Most of the objects were quarter tile, along with many curved pieces. He even made 1/8 or whatever blocks for Art Deco theming.

If you could add on some peices like that the would be great.
I'll try and get a screen up later on.

I saw those a while back, yes, they're brilliant. I have quarter tile blocks already - which I'm happy about because up until now, there were no 1/4 actual 'blocks". I may be wrong, but 1/8 pieces would not work out right now, as the minimum dimensions with the editor is 1/4.

There are more pieces being pressed in the factory (HP Corp). LOL

Thank you

Added more items last evening... the project is getting out of hand. Most objects on screen are 1/4 title.

Very cool idea

I can imagine a lot of uses for those, 1/4 anything for building are items I think can make a big differnece in what you can create. A lot of the building ideas I have are not possible with included sets in RCT3 retail.

If I ever have more free time I definately want to play around with 3D models and the import tool but the things you are doing have come in very handy so far and I am sure will be more useful as I get better at the game!
