Effigy?!

alrite, I was finaly bothered to complete the SP part, unlocked Xan and Clanlord, but on character select screen there is still some unlocked dude called Effigy (necris). How do I unlock the bastage?

hmm, dont know where he came from.....but how do I unlock him? at the moment only see a question mark

The Question Mark is probably Malcolm.
Effigy doesn't come with the game, and is a custom character.
It can be downloaded from here.

no its not Malcolm, Ive unlocked all the standart chars. When I click on the question mark it says Effigy.........really dont know how he got installed there and why I cant play im :-/

Effigy isn't a Necris (as you can see from the pic).

I don't know why it is locked. Perhaps only the Portrait is linked incorrect (you can't click on locked charactes to show what is behind the questionmark).

Check if the file xPlayersEffigy.upl in the system folder of UT2004 looks like this:

Player=(DefaultName="Effigy",Mesh=Effigy.Effigy,species=xGame.SPECIES_Night,BodySkin=EffigyTextures.Skins.rider,FaceSkin=EffigyTextures.Skins.beast,Portrait=EffigyTextures.Portraits.EffigyPortrait,Tex t="Name: Effigy|Age: 4|Race: Lost track||Data:|Take two sick minds and give them plenty of metal and organic material, and this will be the outcome.||",Sex=Male,Menu="SP",Aggressiveness=+0.4,CombatStyle=+0.4,FavoriteWeapon=xWeapons.RocketLauncher,bJumpy=1,StrafingAbility=+0.5,Ragdoll=Effigy,Skeleton=Effigy.EffigySkeleton)

You can also copy the text into that file.

or... maybe you installed the 2k3 version of Effigy in which case you will only see a question mark and will not be able to use that character.
