Okay, so it wasn't funny.

ANYWAY....

I sort of forgot to note a couple of things:

*The ride backdrops were designed to be placed behind attractions that are not more than four grid squares wide. They won't look so well behind larger rides, sorry to say, but how you use them is strictly up to you I may expand this pack later, if there's a serious demand for larger backdrops.

*Beta testers for the Top Gun pack had a bit of trouble sorting out how the parts of the control tower went together. If this problem carries over into the public release, I'll post an image or two that should be helpful.

Did you design those aircraft? They look good, I'll have to download them tomorrow.

It all looks great, except there's one slight problem with the ride backdrops. You used black, and black won't conduct light in RCT3, so if you placed a lamp next to them, they'd still appear black. I suggest using a dark gray instead of black next time.

But still a good job.

I have to admit, the F14 was a slightly-modified freebie download. Everything else was my own.

And WalkingSnake, on the black thing...I learned that a little too late. I re-textured the F5 a dark gray to avoid the black problem but I never went back and re-worked the textures for the ride backdrops. I may have to re-release...

I love the Top Gun Set. I was in High School when that movie came out and it was Iceman this and Maverick that and it got realy old really fast. Thanks for the pack it is a cool flashback to a fun-hearted movie. Now we just need to build some cool rollercoasters to sit next to it so we can feel the need for speed!!! LOL

On the other pack...can you change the pictures on the screens?

Keep up the great work!!!

Unfortunately, I know of no way that the end user can change the pics on the screens. Suggestions are welcome for an expanded version of the pack, though, so if you have a pic you want to see on a picture, hit me with it and I'll see what I can do.

(Note: If I get too many PMs with pictures, this "open house" won't last!)

LOL

Texture mapping isn't so daunting once you make your mind up to do it. Do you use MAX or some other 3D software?

EDIT: Almost forgot the real reason I came here to post!

The ride backdrops have been updated to include absolute zero of the color zero zero zero (I got rid of the black, per WalkingSnake's suggestion). The pack has been re-submitted to my oh-so-generous host...I'll let you know when the update is ready for download.

Downloaded these and just tried them out...

In the ride backdrops pack... the Timberwolf picture in the scenery item is not the same as the one in the icon for the picture. Not a huge deal, just thought I'd point that out.

The Viper backdrop, I cannot place. No matter where in the park I try to place it, raised, lowered, whatever, wherever... it cannot be placed and remains red with one red square beneath it.

Now, this was from the first pack listed in the first post... I'm downloading the update that Marnetmar just posted.. so, I'll try again.

Okay, redownloading and reinstalling the pack did not provide any different results:

The board on the left illustrates just the difference in image from the icon to the actual scenery piece.

The red-out board on the right is an attempt to place the Viper backdrop.

The 2 different pics are because the icon pic was the original texture drucifer was going to use. I gave him the one that's actually on the prop to use, I guess he forgot to update the icon.

I'm not sure why that one prop isn't working, I haven't had the chance to test them yet myself, but I'm sure he'll get it fixed very soon.

Marnetmar: Thanks for the quick upgrade!

That explanation is 100% correct--I changed textures but forgot to change icons. A quick fix.

And as for the board that won't place...I have no idea. It places fine in my test park. I probably set the "Size in squares" wrong in the importer. Will keep you posted.

Thanks everyone for the feedback...

Ride backdrops are like the one pictured in this thread: http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums...hreadid=465399

Unfortunately, I lack the time and talent to airbrush the images, so I did what I could with found pics.

____

I've updated the pack, and once I get it uploaded the Viper backdrop will work correctly. Silly thing insisted it was 1X1 rather than 1X4...who am I to argue?
The timberwolf icon has been corrected also.
The current link will still lead to the old defective pack! I'll keep you informed about the availability of the update.

Thanks all for your patience!

Great stuff!!! My hat's off to all you guys who make these mini expansion packs. Who needs Frontier! Well, maybe theirs are a little better....

This might be helpful.

Also... It would be REALLY cool if the top gun pieces were colorable. Then they could be much more versatile!

Okay, the pictures that should help you get the tower pieces sorted:

First, here's a completed 4X4-grid control tower...

...and then here's a cutaway view showing how the tower bits line up...

________________

The elements in this pack aren't recolorable because, at the time I modeled them, I had no way of making recolorable objects. The importer supplies color palettes for Photoshop and Corel, but I use Paint Shop Pro.
(I have since figured out how to create a color palette with the proper colors, so I may have a go at recolorable gizmos now).

Thanks for the awesome feedback, everyone!

This is absolutly fantastic!!!! I It!!!

With the Top Gun theme its made an awsome addition to my park! thanks!!!! Also The backdrops look great over paths with a s**t loada trees around theme! Reminds me of busch gardens for some reason. How about a few more ride signs. Say like just basic ones but we could use. E.g Big Dipper, Python etc. Caffeens letter set is good but it would be better to have them as one sign. Thanks

"take my breath awayyyyyyy!"

UPDATE:

Recently updated the Top Gun Pack with the following:

*missiles added to the wingtips of the MiG-28

*fixed a texture problem with the MiG-28 that caused a red streak on the back of the fuselage

*changed the name strings on the MiG-28 ladder and landing gear to the appropriate name, rather than "F-5"

The same link as above now contains the updated .zip file.

Thanks jonwil for the update suggestions, and thanks everyone else for the great feedback!

EDIT:
PLEASE NOTE: The Top Gun Pack was updated to solve a minor flaw that had no effect on gameplay. The update now causes a crash in the game. An update that makes things go from bad to worse? I should work for a real software company!

Anyhow, once this is fixed and I have THOROUGHLY tested it, I'll post a nifty new message letting everyone know that the pack is really really working for real, no nonsense.

Thanks all for you patience.

I forgot i hadnt posted in here. I love the Top Gun pack! It goes perfectly with my Top Gun coaster. One thing I noticed though is that you cant get the Top Gun sign's background colors to match with the rest of the hanger walls. Other than that, the pack is perfect.
