Icon15 Matterhorn Bobsleds recreation! Working on continuing...

Hey guys, I'm going to start my most amazing project to date. I'm leaving for Hawaii on thursday, so I wont have alot of time to start working on this. I'm sorry to inform you that I do not have any pics yet.
Although I have the logo....

I'll start working on this as soon as I get back.

P.S If anyone has any photos, It would be greatly appreciated.

Here's a pic I scanned from an old book I have. Half of it is cut off, but I think it shows off a lot of the track layout. Hope it's helpful.

Is this ride a bobsled ride where it runs on tracks in groups of cars or one of those self control 1's where you brake? would be cool eitherway looking forward to this.

Wow thanks everybody, That pic you have there Teirmose was the first pic I found myself! Thats a very helpful ride. right know I'm using that to base off the layout. I'm also requesting some custom scenery to make this ride fantastic! Thanks for all the help!

Excited to see this!

Nice choice of ride to build. It is my favorite of all time.
The pic that was sent to your by Teirmose is not correct. Sorry The layout is very different from that. The best place to get the track layout would be from Visionsfantastic. They have videos of BOTH sides of the ride and you can see all the track.

I do want to say that you did do an awesome job with the pic Teirmose sent you. Looks great.

Have a great trip in Hawaii! I look forward to seeing you complete this!

It's basically a steel coaster with bobsled themed cars.

I think it was the first steel coaster, too.

And those pics look awesome, the layout's spot-on.

And to the above poster, the pic of the drawn layout is pretty close do what the actual layout is....much of the ride the tracks are indeed side-by-side.

Actually

Matterhorn was the first tubular steel coaster ever built. That is what I have read. I am sure there were steel coasters before Matterhorn, but their tracks were not tubular.

The first steel-track, multi-vehicle roller coaster, this one's a little rough for some people, but a fun spin for most
(theme park insider)

The Matterhorn was the first to use cylindrical rails and urethane wheels, which is used on most roller coasters.
(mouseinfo.com)

Some Fun Facts:

Matterhorn Mountain is 140 feet high. It's visible from the nearby freeway.

The Matterhorn attraction was inspired by the movie "Third Man on the Mountain" (which in turn was inspired by the book "Banner in the Sky"), and opened on June 14, 1959. It was the first steel roller coaster in the world.
The Abominable Snowmen were added in 1978

ENJOY!

Hey I can tell you just by looking at those 2 pics of the station. That this is going to be dead on! You should make the cue line go around the mountain. Like it does (somtimes) But that station is dead on!
