i wanted to try my hand at running the economy for one planet. i turned the planetary econ ai off, yet im stilling seeing DEA's that i did not order being built. why is this? and how can i stop it?

secondly... i don't like the ai building ships for me. how can i disable this and still let the ai govenor run the economy?

It has been a long time since I played the game and I did not turn off the planetary econ AI, so I'd recommend that you read around these forums and use the search button to zero in on the juicy bits. I will say that several threads stickied at the top of the strategy folder are good for telling you what is going on with economics as well as for telling you how to get Roy to do what you want. Learn about Dev plans.

You can empty the Military Build Queue (MBQ) and lock it empty, and that planet will no longer build any ships.

turning off the econ AI by the checkbox does a lot less than new players tend to expect... afaik, it has no effect on DEA placement, buildings built in DEAs, or what goes into either of the build queues.

all it does do, i think, is stop the AI from adjusting the spending sliders and tax rate behind your back.

that's it.

you can also put the military build queue under direct control, as suggested, by locking it. but most of the rest is just out of your control.

full control over what even one planet does is something you'll have to let go of, unfortunately.
