Disneyland 1955 (Main Street Scenery Pack)

Here's the first pic from my new project. This is another recreation, with a twist. I'm sure a few of you will already recognize the building below. My goal will be to recreate this park, as close as RCT3 and the community scenery pack designers will allow. I will also have to take some creative liberties with this project, as some things will be impossible to get perfect. I will also be setting the calender back, about 50 years, for this project.

Skip ahead to my next post for details of this project.

This is as close as I can get, so far. Hopefully, new scenery will help me get it even closer.

that looks right to me... maybe is the twist he is building it the year it came out or something, instead of present day.

Looks good. A new project from Shyguy?!?! Can't wait.

Well, where did you get those wall pieces that look really realistic?

The white ones near the top that remind me of crown molding.

Let's see, from bottom to top.
Office roof, colored slate window, new custom awnings, office cornice, colored walls, (I think) little red striped are from Atlantis roof - I've used that same piece before, vertical white peices are from Western, you can turn the office cornice around to get it to stick out, spooky castle roof with window, office roof on top, with what looks like chain link fence. I think Atlantis fence might have been better.
AMAZING, TRULY AMAZING. Excellent use of walls, totally awesome!
Thanks for sharing your sneak peak!!!!!

Now if only they would let us do custom colours its very limited now.

And Shy, have you got into the beta because if you have i'll be hoping you sort out your parks aswell ;]

Dont forget about us on the normal forums loving your work =]

Hi everyone. Thanks for the comments.

Well, that wasn't too difficult to figure out. I guess that means I did a pretty good job recreating it. Well, here's my idea...Creating Disneyland circa 1955. Now so far, many have attempted to recreate a Disney Park, but few, if any, have ever finished. This is a daunting task and I can understand why there has been little success. I make no guarantees that I'll fair any better.

So I think what I'm going to do is start with Main Street and see how that goes. Then, I'll work may way through the other lands, each one on its own separate map. I expect this to be rather slow, cause I don't want to neglect Wonder World. That's still my top priority.

Now, here's where I get REALLY ambitious, and I almost doubt I'll do this, but...I would like to then bring Disneyland up to the present, year by year, building each new ride and attraction as it was added each year. Time will tell if I ever get to this phase.

Now, here's my plea to the community. I NEED YOUR HELP!!!! Are there any scenery pack wizards out there who would like to design elements for each land? Take the Emporium, up above. I hate the spooky castle roofs. But I need the dormer windows. And Main Street is full of those windows. One or two colorable styles of dormer windows would make Main Street look so much more realistic. I can't use the spooky castle roofs on everything.
A couple styles of awnings would also be great. These could be fairly generic, so others could use them in non Disney parks as well.

I know you guys are busy, so I'm not really expecting you to be able to "join" this project. I'm going to check out jonwill's program and read a bit about it, but I don't really think I'll have the time to learn 2 programs (jonwill's and a 3D program) nor the time to design the pieces myself. I may just make due with what is available and make a lot of compromises.

Larry241,

You were pretty close. The red stripes and white verical ones are actually from Pumper's Supports. I'll have to check out that Atlantis piece as I've never used anything from that set.

StayingDead,

I'm not in the beta. Like I have time for THAT, too!

AWESOME

After seeing the amazing work you have done here Shyguy. I have to say that I am exstatic to see this project come to life. Your idea to bring it up to date is an awesome idea. I hope that you are able to continue doing what you want with this park.

GOOD LUCK!

Good idea on scenery packs. Elements like that would be very useful for any park whether a Disney recreation or not. Adventureland USA a park in Iowa has a main street very much like Disneyland CA and so do many other parks.

If you haven't already seen it, and I am betting you have, yesterland.com has a lot of vintage Disneyland photos.

I started a similar project last year, WAY before SOAKED and custom scenery. Unfortunately (or, rather, fortunately) work has prevented me from making any progress on it, but I'm planning on starting it back up in a few weeks. I'm happy to see that the new Soaked and custom scenery really can make a difference. My recreation is accurate to 10 feet. I have a huge original blueprint and blow ups of satellite imagery to go off of.

HERE is a link to the topic on the NEdesigns forums tracking my progress.

What a wonderful Emporium!
I can't wait to see your talent in recreating Main Street, with all rct3 scenery limitations.
I'm making my personal version of Disneyland (http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums...hreadid=481984), but I'm still on Main Street: in fact, recreating Main Street, with all its shops, can be very boring. Furthermore, stalls available in rct3 are so bad!

composerboy,

Your park looks great. And very accurate! Especially considering it is pre-Soaked. I have some major competition here!

filesnav2k,

Your park looks wonderful, too! Great job!

Park Novice,

I would be honored to have your help. I just hope you have the time. I've seen the list of requests you've received so I was afraid to ask, figuring you wouldn't have the time.

Which brings me to this idea...

I'd love to form a virtual company called ShyCo. The goal would be to build the best recreation of Disneyland as possible. And in addition to that, the communtiy would get lot's of new content in the form of scenery packs to use. I would be the CEO and designer/builder of the park. The "employees" of this company would consist of graphic artist's (scenery pack designers), consultants (those who provide knowledge and can seek out photographic archives for reference) and maybe a videographer (someone who wants to make videos of the park to share with the community)

It could be a fun project and I think we'd get a lot of recognition from the RCT community. Anyway, let me know if anyone's interested. And I'd put no pressure on anyone to make any lengthy commitments. If you want to join for a while but then decide you don't like it or don't have the time, don't worry. I'll be happy with any contribution you have to offer.

I like the idea of dividing up Disney into smaller maps. I thought that before. I've seen some pretty good park recreations, but dies as soon as you try to play it. I think if some of them divided their parks, you could get some pretty good maps. Good luck on your project.

Thanks for the offers of help, guys. I will let you know the things I need help on as this project gets underway. The most important thing I'll need is custom scenery!!! It would nice to get a group together that can do that, and then maybe combine their efforts to release a "Main Street" pack or a "Fantasyland" pack.

For those who can't do that stuff, I might just have a question like, "Does someone have a picture of...." or "Does anyone remember where the Main Street Shooting Gallery was?" (Yes, there WAS a Main Street Shooting Gallery!!!)

I don't know how to do any of that stuff.

Though, perhaps you could do a couple simple objects for me that wouldn't take too long. A couple simple awnings like the ones in your brand names pack would be easy and greatly needed. If you think you might have time for that, let me know and I'll post a pic or 2 of what I'd like.

Thanks.

Also, here's a couple requests to whomever would like to help. I need 1/3 tile high colorable piece just like the white and red thin lengths to go where the circle is. colorable and stackable.

And, how about a doorway like the one I sketched in. I'm tired of building entrances as just big square openings!
