Main Street Pack (Version. 1.2 RELEASED! Disappearing problem improved!)

Main Street Set v1.2 is released!

Download version 1.2 which fixes a couple glitches and greatly improves the disappearing problem for some of the pieces, including the Triple Window.

The Emporium with the Main Street Set.

Click the link below and extract the files into your Rollercoaster Tycoon 3/Style/Themed directory.

Version 1.2

The disappearing problem has been greatly improved on the Dormers, the Cornices and the (yay!) Triple Window. Also, the lighting was backwards on the Awning, making it too dark. Now it's much brighter. Also, the Toys sign has been offset a bit for asthetic purposes.

The disappearing problem has been greatly improved by attaching the objects to a huge, transparent wall. Now you can move back twice as far before they start to vanish. Just be careful when coloring objects nearby, as you might accidentily click on the transparent wall instead, and color the wrong piece. (There's never a perfect solution...)

Get Version 1.2 HERE!

If you have problems installing the above file, here's a self-extracting file, thanks to Beelitz.

Main Street v1.2.exe

This set works with Wild!!!!.

As my first scenery pack, there may be a couple of quirks you may come across, like pieces appearing in the game facing the wrong direction. Just use the Z key to turn the pieces the direction you want.

You'll find this pack is different from the typical scenery packs, as all the pieces are set to 1/4 tile. This adds great versatility to the pack, but makes placing pieces a little harder than usual. And instead of full walls, most of the objects are small pieces that need to be assembled to create what you want. Just read the tutorials in this thread and you should soon get the hang of it.

Have fun!

Main Street Set 2 coming soon.....

Don’t be offence, but just curious
Will it be increase lags even more for the peeps that have lowest system? Look like cos there are so many bits and bits. Likewise you willing go to use millions of them in your park.

But I would love to use that even it will be fine on my both systems as these are very high ended.

These pieces will be so useful! We need lots of small building blocks like these. They'll make buildings so much more detailed, as you've demonstrated above.
Well done!

That's a good question. These might increase lag. Some of the pieces have high polygon counts. My advice would be to use them at your discretion. A park decorated to the max with tons of scenery pieces is going to lag...

Excellent work so far shyguy This all looks very nice so far & will be a great addition to the game.

I agree that a lot of scenery, any scenery, will cause lag in the game.

Can I request some window store displays? I've always wanted to let my peeps go window-shopping.

I've been toying with this idea myself. But I'm not very good at drawing in 2D. I've thought about importing real pictures of window displays and putting them in the windows, but photorealistic pics may not look good with the cartoonish look of RCT3. But maybe with the help of filters in photoshop....hmmmm.

That is looking pretty good. I hope you take the time to make the files as small as possible (poly optimized). It would be a shame to be only able to look at it, and not play a park with them.

I really like your pictures. They make me think of Six Flags combined with a certain district of Amsterdam. The mermaids in the windows are just the right touch.

It looks like you are mastering the custom creations for RCT3.
The railing looks great.

The mermaids in the windows are animatronic. Not from Amerstdam. This is not Disney's Red Light District!!!

I'm doing my best to optimize the poly counts, but these are going to be more complex then the typical scenery pieces that ship with RTC3. Lag may be a problem for those with slow machines. I won't really know until others test these out.

But what I've noticed is the pieces with the highest counts disappear quickly as the camera is moved away. That usually clues me in that I'm pushing the limit and I try to make adjustments. I'm sure this feature was added to help with lag on slower machines. This only happens after Soaked is installed, I believe. I'm hoping this will keep lag at a minimum.
