Quick scenery editor question... *~*UPDATED 10-26-05*~* Good Flippin Grief!!!

I have this error message...

and I created a 64x64 24bit bitmap with just a color on it to test things out...

Please help me out, I'm trying to make some custom scenery that I plan to show you guyz soon as soon as I get this stuff right soon enough =D

*~*EDIT*~*

Ok I think I fixed the whole texture thing... I changed from 24bit to 256 colors...

HOWEVER

The program crashes when I save the model + texture, has anybody witnessed this themselves?

*~*EDIT AGAIN*~*

Ok it was a corrupted file I guess, cause I used a different one and it worked. NOW when I import my model and test it, the model is reversed??? How do I fix this?

*~*EDIT 1 MORE TIME*~*

Ok I'm not tripping on the reversed model, however I am tirpping as to why the scenery editor keep crashing every time I save the model + texture...

Now in my 3D modeling program, I had a bsic sphere model for test, and a power by 2 texture (complete red texture) at 256color bitmap. I save as a 3DS file, use biturn to convert to ASE no problem, but when I used notepad to view the model coding the textures are changed to tga files. Of course when I run it through the Scenery Editor, it will evidentally crash the program, especially when I manually change the TGA extensions to bitmaps. (SIGH) What the heck am I doing wrong?

I've included the 3DS file PLUS bitmap texture for you to check out in your 3d program to show that the model works with the texture. I'll let you do the conversion to see maybe I'm running this wrong.

*~*EDIT 2nd TIME AROUND*~*

Good Flippin grief!!! I found out the problem! I didn't make the texture names correct! When you click on mesh flags and use the texture plus giving it a name, I didn't know I had to use the same name when I import my bitmap texture....

UGH This really made me feel stupid!

THank you much!

I wouldn't worry about the crashing, the scenery importer does that, it's a bit glitchy at times The good news is that re-saving your file sometimes prevents a crash. Just keep trying

But the thing is the program is crashing for a perticular reason. If I can save model that wasn't originaly textured, how come I can't save it if I applied a bitmap texture?I'm doing something wrong.

I'm not sure what the problem is Groovdafied, I just got your model/texture & for some reason it's crashing for me also, but I'll see what I can figure out for you.

Oh good, then it's not just me then... I created the model and texture correctly right? I mean it's a simple texture 64x64 at 256 colors and a simple sphere with no manipulation. So if I exported as a 3DS file and take it back into my 3D model program, I can view correctly. I use biturn to convert the file type and import into the editor, thus causing the crash when I save the OVL file with a texture.

I give the texture a basic name, import the texture on the first line and leave the alpha texture blank with no color options.

For the mesh, I usually choose the first texture Pargue texture or whatever it's named, give it a basic name and click ok.

I click SAVE and CRASH! =/

Actually something in the the model/texture kept crashing when I imported it into Milkshape & when trying to convert it from your 3ds to the ase file with Biturn, the texture wouldn't load.
I tried a new texture file with your model & got the same results, so I went ahead & remade the model with a new texture & it converted with Biturn just fine.
If you want to send me a PM with your e-mail address, I can send you what I have & you can try them & see if they work ok for you.
