Icon14 Tutorial- Inside Fences!- Coasters,Rides, Objects In Animal Enclosures!

Tutorial On Putting Flat Rides, Coasters, Paths, Vendors And Buildings In Animal Enclosures In The Open!

Forward: This tutorial gives reference to http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums...d.php?t=506441 Bluesnake's Tutorial On Animal Enclosures as he solved the mystery for me on how to get animals from one side to the other, using a geltle slope hill, and the great reference it is. This tutorial though will show... much more...

ZZ-zz-z-z

Look! Maxximvs is sleeping... he's dreaming of making his latest RCT scenairo... oh look! A vision is coming into focus...

Oh must be a dream... everyone knows you can't have open paths like that... and those rides wide open... phtt! Lets take another look...

That's Impossible! Wait a minute.. I'm not dreaming and neither are you! You can also make HUGE parks within an Animal Enclosures!

I - like many who have Wild! for RCT were soon after trying to figure out how to put things into the Animal Enclosures. The first Game Scenario showed us all the enclosed Viewing Gallery surrounded by an Animal Enclosure Fence, by going underground (showing another Wild! feature of tunneling). Bluesnake then took this to the next step, and after some experiments came up with our first way for us to get stuff inside...

But I wanted more... I didn't want to bury the path, and make buildings out of buried dirt tiles... I wanted to use MY buildings, and RIDES, and COASTERS and I WANTED IT ALL!!!!!!! But alas, it was not so, and I went on the make mt. Kilimanjaro Safari for 'Impersonator and the RCT Girls' Video without this knowledge. During this build though, I discovered that I could build paths over the Animal Enclosures, as long as they were 7 units or higher...hmmm...

So I'm working on my next park for the 'Impersonator' and th'gang, and I'm putting in a 'sunken coaster'... so I dropped the land around 10 units, placed the coaster inside the hole I just made, started raising the tiles around the coaster to smooth out the edges... POW! Hit-me-like-a-hammer! With a quick save I'm out like a flash and call up a blank scenario... and an hour later I'm laughing with excitement! After typing all my notes together, then losing them because the *beepin* forum timed out, then re-creating them again, I give you...

Placing Flat Rides, Coasters, Paths, Vendors And Buildings In Animal Enclosures In The Open!

Step 1: Let There Be Light... And A Big Shovel!

For this tutorial, I'm just going to use a 20x20 Animal Enclosure, but of course any size or shape of Animal Enclosure wil work. Decide where you are going to place your Animal Enclosure, get out your Terrain Shovel Tool, then drop the terrain where the Enclosure is going 9 UNITS down! (For the rest of the tutorial, I'm going to use 9 units - but I just tried to use 7 and I think its going to work - giraffes must be 6 or 7 units tall...)

Step 2: Create One Animal Enclosure in the Sinkhole!

Selecting the Animal Fencing Enclosure Tool (Wood, Chain or Electric) place the Fence inside your new sinkhole! No other options are required at this point! Do not place animals or animal housing. (Note - my screenshots show a Gallery, and this should NOT be placed yet... but the fence was falling apart before I could finish the tutorial, so I had maintance fix it and needed the galleries attached! hehe)

Step 3: Crossing The Great Divide - One Path Tile At A Time!

So you now have this Animal Fence Enclosure inside a sinkhole, which just happens to be 9 units down - just far enough to put a path over it! Build the path you desire OVER the Animal Enclosure - go Wild! Doesn't have to be streight, can have a ton of curves in it! The pic just shows a 'boring' line path, but since then I've been trying some CRAZY stuff!

Step 4: Awash In Rides And Food Galore!

So now you have this path 9 units above a sinkhole (which just happens to have an Animal Enclosure...I won't tell if you won't!), proceed to place rides level with your path, by raising each Vendor, Flat Ride, Coaster (Yes, Even Coasters placed inside my be raised) the 9 UNITS required to match the path!

Wait for it.... WAIT FOR IT.... ARE YOU READY TO RUMBLE![/b]

Continued In The Next Post, Cause I'm limited to 10 images! hahahahah!

Continued - ARE YOU READY!!!!!!!!

Note* Mods - Sorry for the 'Double Post' Its was the only way to get the entire tutorial in!. Forgive me?

Step 5: Rise Thy Earth With Force!

*As the Angles Sing, th' Earth rises, RISES!* Return to the Terrain Tool, Then RAISE the Sinkhole with your Animal Enclosure 9 UNITS! POW! Woot! You now have an ENTIRE PARK within an Animal Enclosure!

You can now proceed to decor the area as you see fit. Though no other steps are required, the picture above shows that I took out three path tiles before raising my land... but I didn't have to, and it would have been fine! (see 2nd pic in the 'dream' above - I have panthers on one side, elephants on the other). The trick though is that animals cannot cross the path through the enclosure, which means you have to put Animals on both sides of the path with dual houses, or we need to use Bluesnake's Hill Technique. Step 6 will demo these options and Step 7 will cover the two issues I have - Coasters and Buildings.

Step 6: Use Bluesnake's Hills To Connect The Two Sides

Where I deleted the three path tiles before raising the land in step 5, is now just normal land... for a minute. We can 1) Build a land bridge for the animals so they can cross AND / OR 2) Sell some Animal Fencing in that area and place Viewing Galleries (as shown in the Wild Game Scenario 1 and also covered in Bluesnake's Tutorial).

1) Raise the Land Tiles where the path was 4 UNITS. Once complete, raise the land tiles on each side 3 UNITS, then 2 then finally 1 fanning out from the centre (its re and not er, 'cause I'm Canadian). Smooth all tiles to connect in slope to make a hill. Take Path Tool, and create a tunnel through the new hill from one path to the other, once again reconnecting them.

2) Using the Trash Fence Tool, Sell the Fence Land between the two paths, plus a bit on each side to place Galleries and other stuff you want. Use the path tool to connect the path, and place your galleries and stuff!

Step 7: Two Issues, Coasters and Buildings

In using this tutorial, you will notice two things 1) Land under coasters is very 'bumpy and wierd' and placing game walls doesn't happen. This section covers both of these - and I'll use an expanded version of the park - a 20x60 Animal Enclosure, with a 'few more rides' RIGHT ON!!!!!!

Long View Of 20x60 Animal Enclosure

Side View Of 20x60 Animal Enclosure

Land Under Coasters

Coaster Track isnt like a Flat Ride Covering The Entire Area which it sits. Each Coaster Track Piece is considered a path piece and because we are raising land below it it will prevent the land from rising all the way. So, there are three ways to resolve this - 1) Don't! By default coasters become 'Sunken Coasters' which actually works out well for a lot of my work! 2) Terrain Tiles under Scenery and 3) Raise the Coaster by another 9 Units.

Sunken Coaster Look

Pretty Easy! Once Step 5 is complete, just take the terrain tools and fix the tiles under the coaster to give it the Sunken coaster look. Feeling Lazy? Having a hard time creating Sunken Coasters? Use this tutorial to place a coaster inside an Animal Enclosure, raise the land, then sell the entire Animal Fence, leaving beind perfect tiles to complete for a sunken coaster!

Terrain Tiles Under Scenery

Hardes of the Three, well, not HARD but just a hassle... Drop the land under the coaster only back down 9 UNITS, then use Terrain Tiles to cover the hole... works great, just a pain to raise tiles out of a 9 Unit Hole at times...

Raise the Coaster

This works fine, though som coasters look too goofy raised another 9 UNITS out of the ground (note, you only have to raise the coaster as many units as you sink x 2 - for 9 units down, raise it 18 units from the hole... if only 7 units down only raise 14 units up...)

My favs are a combo of 1 and 3 - I'll raise a coaster an extra 4-5, which still gives me a small sunken coaster! looks great!

Building Scenery

Building Scenery can only be used if 1) Custom scenery from great Mods out there are used, with no collision detection! or 2) the M Brookes cheat is used to place tiles on existing paths. The Animal Enclosure is still an enclosure - and you can't place 'legit' pieces inside - so I just cheat.

Also, because you start in a hole you already lose 7 to 9 UNITS (depending on what you used) the building is 'peanlized' in height... a 9 Unit sinkhold can only have a single level set of paths, and a 7 UNIT hole will allow a second level of paths / vendors (see pic).

Summary

First, credits ahoy to Bluesnake for the dirt over mound discovery, an to all Modders, Set Builders, and Video Makers... YOU ALL ROCK!

Second, since this will probably be my only discovery (I only have a dream - like - once every 5 years or so), I hope everyone finds this expanded material on Animal Enclosures useful...

Oh Look! A Panther coming up to see me! Nice kitty, pretty kitty....

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Its Eating my *BEEPIN* LEG! GET IT OFFFFFFF!
hehehehehe! Just kidding, they can't get on the paths!

So I'm returning to making Videos, check them out... you may be entertained...

Amazing firework show
I found (Even though I didnt know it was on this forum),
It took my breath away, amazing lasers, water jets, and fireworks
that made the virtual firework show look Realistic!
This movie may be 17 minutes and 20 seconds, but its worth it.

That's a great idea!

And by mixing underground and open sections you will get quite a variety of animal enclosures. This will bring even more fun to your WILD parks.

Thanks for this great tutorial!

RCT_Floridia: No, because the paths are "suspended above the Animal Enclosures" the peeps don't even notice that the nice lion is right beside them... in fact, when the ground is raised - the Animal enclosure actually becomes 'divided' - not from the path - but from the unseen drop of land below the path (which is still 7 units down - way too steep for animals to cross). When I placed the panthers and the elephants in together - one on either side - it was like the panthers knew the elephants were in the same enclosure, would try to 'cross' the divide to eat our elephant friends (which is great because it means the cats hang out along the path all the time) but couldn't cross the 7 unit 'ditch' in front of them The comment 'cavemen painted on walls' - is that-a-good?-or-bad?-or-hmm?...hehe

Placing Parks Inside Animal Fence Enclosures And Underwater Video

This two minute video just demonstrates a small park I created to display the building of an Animal Enclosure Park and inside it a Underwater Park! The video has still of construction pics seperated by video snippits of completed sections (Animals walking up to rides, Peeps looking through the Aquarium Crater at the Ride Underwater, that liknd of stuff).

It also demos bladexdsl's double stacked viewing galleries, though because I can build parks right inside animal enclosures my paths just connect to them, and do not "go over or under" to connect with paths.

Enjoy this tid-bit video... just a quickie The video link is over in my Multmedia section, just follow the link below to get there!

Hurry To The Maxximvs Multimedia Cave!
