Wooden Coaster Triangular Supports - V2 out!

This Image Was Automatically Resized by using the Screenshot Tag. Click to view the full version

These triangle supports were in RCT2, but were left out of RCT3. I have created them for RCT3, along with some other pieces, to make your wooden coasters look much more realistic. Here is a lsit of what is contained in the pack:

Box - To put box supports udnernetah the triangle piece.
Triangle - The main part of this.
Smaller Box - To fit in those little gaps.
Wall - To cover up the awful gaps that the coaster leaves when it passes directly udnerneath another piece of coaster.
Small wall - A smaller version of the Wall.
Footer - A concrete footer for the supports to rest on.

For those that are lazy and don't want to read the rest, the scenery is under the generic category and is medium sized scenery.

Great job Froggee. Thank you for creating this component. I believe we will see alot of park builders posting pictures that contain this piece.

will these only work on the 90 degree grid? or do we have some diagonal peices also for turns and helices?
sorry if this question is redundant i haven't had a chance to get in game and play around with these yet

Excellent, the texture is perfect, but I did find a problem . The colors aren't dark enough, the triangular supports are kinda light compared to the coaster supports. Another question is will you be doing the diagonal pieces as well? And maybe a half support?

Yes you will, I just haven't had much time this weekend to work on it. I should be able to get it all done in the next couple of days for you.

I think I was overlooked in my message above. Any way to get these darker in-game?

I think I know how. *goes off and works*

Oh and sorry about overlooking your message. I remember reading it but I never replied. Do you have any other problems with the supports? Just want to iron out any sort of bugs.

Edit: I made my texture darker and then put the ACT file back in. Imported everything. So far so good. Get into game and no difference in darkness. I don't know how to change it, sorry.

i dont' have any problems with their coloring, or their brightness
i would love to see if you could come up with a diagonal peice though
looking hte the supports in game, it should not be that hard to line them up cinsidering is it a flat face on a diagonal on just about everything you can use on the wooden coasters
any idea if you plan to tackle that task Froggee?
and can't thank you enought for these!!!!!!!

It should be fairly easy. Just rotate the mesh and "offset" it a little bit (I might not even have to do that.) Then just double everything with the new mesh in the theme file.

I just tried out this piece and it is great. It really adds a lot to the wooden coasters. Especially the helix, where the game just displays the track floating in the air.

One thing though, it does not seem to have collision detection. If you have a track running against a tall hill and try to place this support against the tall hill above the lower track, the scenery ends up appearing like it is going right through the track instead of floating over the track as it did in RCT2. Is making a piece with collision detection just a matter of choosing that option in the scenery maker? If it is simple, would you be able to offer this piece with collision detection?

Thanks
Doug

The supports below are part of the actual model, they are always there underneath the ground. I have plans on how to fix this problem and while I am there I'll do a diagonal I guess!

I think that the support just needs to have collision detection that they talk about on this 4m. Without collision detection, a piece of scenery can be built through a ride or through another piece of scenery. With collision detection, you cannot build a piece of scenery through anything else.

Right now, if you try to use the triangular support on a space where there is track, the support begins on the ground and goes up through the track.

If there was collision detection, the support would begin hovering over top of the track instead of on the ground like it did in RCT2. Did that make sense?

With collision detection on the object you'd have to have the very bottom of the supports over your coaster, meaning the triangular bit is way in the sky. It is all 1 mesh. The supports are all under the ground even if you only pull them up 1 square.

Turning on detection would solve nothing.

Case 1--Collision detection. One would not use the support if the height difference in the adjacent (side by side) tracks was less than the original support height.

Cast 2--Without collision detection. One would NEVER use the support with adjacent tracks because the lower track will appear like it is crashing through the support.

I find case 1 to be the better option because there are only sometimes that the support would not be used with adjacent tracks. In case 2, the support would never be used with adjacent tracks.

Is there another way to fix this so the coaster tracks do not "crash" through the support other than collision detection?
