Don't stare too long...that's making eye babies
Making "eye babies" is the act of staring into someone's eyes for too long. It is grounds for expulsion at a college in the US.
I've been following Pennsacola Christian College on the internet for a while. Not as a regular thing, but I've always read what little formal and informal journalism there is to read about it. I thought some might like to read this article about a college that is so far on the right of Christian colleges that it is only one-upped in fundamentalism by the Saudi religious police. Quote:

A password prompt, then two measly paragraphs, followed by demands that I pay an ungodly amount to read the rest of the article?

These people are freaks.
I especially like the fact they're not accredited. So you just paid thousands of dollars to keep your child sheltered from the real world for an additional few years for what? |

Optical intercourse!! Why is it that these fundamentalists are always so obsessed with the "evil" relationship between man and woman? And why would anyone ever want to go to that college in the first place?

![]() I'm really curious as to the kinds of homes that breed their students. It would appear that some students recognize that the place is way out there and chafe under their restrictions. Yet others seem perfectly fine. What was their upbringing like?

I looked at a private Methodist college for a while, but got a bit spooked by some of their rules. They were very similar to this college - no socialisation between the sexes, no dating, no unapproved movies or music, etc. etc. etc.
They courted me fairly strongly, because they wanted me to join their pipe and drum corps. When I indicated I wasn't interested, they became.......belligerent, demanding to know why I felt that their institution was "beneath me". I finally stated outright that I felt that I was entitled to certain freedoms, and that I sure as hell wasn't going to pay through the nose to have them trampled. Of course, I then reminded them that just because I played the 'pipes, didn't mean I was a Christian - and that I played for the sheer pagan joy of the sound. They hung up on me, and did not contact me again.

Its funny that were I used to live we allways talked about how the girls who went to the "private" schools where the real freaks in bed. We argued it was because of the built up frustration of being DENIED what they really wanted.

but like Cain said, it is a private college so not only can they have such extreme rules, but the people who enroll there subject themselves to it voluntarily.

I'm amazed that Americans, who start frothing at the mouth when they think about government making more rules, would allow this kind of liquid feces.
This is of course an extreme example but when I hear americans say that europeans are more slavishly when it comes to following rules I have to smirk. |

Well, what can one say. As many have said, it's a private college and they can make whatever wacko rules they like. What is really amazing is not that there a few nutjobs around who want to run such an place, it's that there are people willing to attend. And young people, too. And this isn't be only means the only example.
It is quite interesting, this kind of fundementalism seems to be gaining popularity in America. I find it a particularly creepy kind of religious expression. It's cult like. And it isn't about Christianity, really, it's something older and more primitive. "Under and behind and inside everything this man took for granted, something horrible had been growing." </melodrama>

Works well for me... I don't want to be around anyone who equates eye contact to sex anyway, so everybody wins. They don't have to deal with my reckless, unprotected, pre-marital occular fornication, and I don't have to deal with anyone who would think something so stupid. Where's the problem? |

Actually this doesn't sound a lot different than a co-ed monastary for Monks and Nuns if you ask me.

From what I read, the best thing that can happen to these people is to be expelled for those minor infractions. Teaches a lot about the tolerance level of the average (christian) fundy.

Forgive me for I have sinned, I took a walk around the school building and had eye sex with 14 teachers, and about 200 students. I should be punished and possibly fired for such open wanton sexual displays of looking into another person's eyes.

But you'd prefer that the government made some sort of rule that people aren't allowed to choose which religious rules, if any, they live by, wouldn't you? |
