Icon2 DM-Getherto

Name: DM-Getherto
Download it here: http://deepblue.sk/~virgo/47/downloads/dm-getherto.zip
Mirrors:

DM-Getherto is "green industrial". It is created for TDM - best for 2on2 or 4on4. Duels are possible, but they may have a slower pace. ;-) In any case, gameplay and flow were the first things on my mind.

Description:
When Liandri corporation opened 'JAR-34' arena (Just Another Rankin - 34th industrial in its possession), no one could expect that players would name the arena on their own. Liandri chose an interesting man to make an arena keeper. Merty Getherto, former gardener and sprayer, surely imprinted his individuality to the face of the arena. Nobody calls it by other name but 'The Getherto'. And he is also funny guy, really. Even Malcolm likes talking with him for a few minutes before he enters another match to win.

I like, nice frame rate and very nice setting. The spray paint added a nice touch. Love the way you cut up the rooms and the different levels with the mix of ramps, lifts, and planks. Good job. Iam placing this on are server.

Thank you for feedback, I'm really glad that it is positive so far. :-) I think I went a long (yet quick) way from my first map which really is not playable when it is compared to this one. This one was also much more tested with 2on2 setup (never can't manage 4on4 thou). I don't know if I'm able to do so, but at least I tried to make something like "nearly-pro" 2on2 map. ;-) Enjoy it.

Thanks for mirrors

I wanted to put it on mapraider, but I have to wait when (and if, because it lasts for so long in my case ;-)) account activation code finds his way to my inbox. ;-) Also Nalicity (BU fileworks) mirror is in progress now, I'll add them as I added those two. Thanks.

Hazel, hi. :-) I nearly used your skybox (I did in fact, but then I have to find something more "Earthy" and "nighty")... :-) Nice works anyway, I'll use them in future for sure.

But now my head is empty. ;-) No plans, UEd started to play major role in my dreams (also in bad ones) and so I need a little break. :-)

But I will try something other than industrial. ;-) Industrial may be easy and may be also the curse. ;-)

wow virgo. i read about this map on the lob forums, and remembered your name. i'm quite pleased and excited about how far you've come as a mapper, espeically in such a short time (to me anyway). i started my second attempt at a decent map LAST may, which means it's going to be a year, and finally have a layout down. you wouldn't believe wtf i started with. it was a joke. my map was seriously a HUGE learning process, and hopefully soon, i can have a beta up here for the people to judge.

well, congrats man. you're getting the attention i always hoped for. good job, and nice map.

Thank you, mate... you helped me a lot with that first bunch of box, which helped me also in overall proces. ;-)

In this map I used experiences of others a lot... I found, that most used height difference between platforms/levels is 320uu, so I used it. I started with Rankin lift and light sets and going from a100 room to DD room I tried to customize it slowly... and it worked. But of course... layout is mine. ;-))) My dream is to be layout/gameplay/flow master in the future. ;-)

I will not stop produce map from time to time, til I get to some massively played PRO piece. ;-) With help of the people around, of course...

EDIT: I tried map's luck also here: http://www.unrealnorth.com/forum.php...topic&id=23331
But it went to nothing so far. ;-)

BTW: what/where are lob forums?

I got to play it a lot. Man, great visuals. Finally, Textures that are sharp and plants that aren't flat... Plus the gameplay is great...

This is probably the best map I've played this year...

PS: I love the "Arena Rules"...

Thanks man :-)))

Rules? Yeah... :-) Two players chat:

"See?! You should not shoot me from behind!"
"Well, you're trampling the flowers, I can shoot you from behind. Rules are here to be broken, right?"

LOB runs the fractionary tdm server, which gets alot of traffic through from "good" players.
