SpaceWorx Updated/Re-Released

StarDate: 08-09-06
SpaceWorx Full Updated release

08/24 IMPORTANT NOTICE - DOMES NOW WORK!
It was discovered by one of our members, that turning off shadows in RCT3 options
will allow you to use all the dome quarters (roof, floors, internals & toppers).
A huge thanks goes out to baz6174 for solving the mystery!

- Always use the bottom (base) part of the dome quarter to line up each dome piece. The original crash may have been a blessing in disguise, as having dome quarters is actually an advantage, in that you can now mix and match dome parts for some bizarre, yet interesting results (galaxy and star combos for the internal parts work cool too).

- The starfield dome floor has a bit of overlapping, resuting in very minor flicker in the center - but heck, stars flicker anyway, and it won't be noticed in the long run unless your building planetarium walking tours for the elderly.

- Build your dome pieces first, then your surrounding wall base, and finally lay your floor down at the end.[/color]

New Curved Wall Roof Corner Added to 1.2 (left) and some Dome Quarter Madness (right)

Pre Flight Information
  • Most (if not all) objects use the 1/4 size grid mode for maximum enjoyment; something not aligning? The Z key (rotate) is your friend.
  • Some objects have their own lighting at night.
  • Domes are great for twisting, smaller track style coasters, so don't expect to stuff a HyperCoaster inside.
  • For experienced builders, there are a number of wall styles and StarWalls/Floors to build your own indoor space structure - with no limits on size.
  • The Decor-Rods have tiny bulbs which illuminate at night. Thanks to Vodhin's research, I was able to make the bulbs colorable. As with Vodhin's colorable lights, it is important to remember there is a limitation in that you have to choose your light color BEFORE placing the rod down. If you choose black, you'll get no illumination at all. You can also change the Rod color at any time, independently.
  • Mix up your starfields so they don't look like repeated patterns. Rotate, even overlap for some convincing effects. The StarCube will give more depth to outer space by adding 3D-like stars. Again, rotate and stack the Starcube for the ultimate flight - and at night, the StarCube takes on an interesting effect.
  • Vodhin's donated space stall can be found with the scenery items.
  • One item pictured during the earlier stages of Spaceworx was not included with this set… The mixmaster-made Space Rings particle which had one serious problem: It can be seen through all walls and scenery. For example, if you had it deep within your space complex, you can see the repeating rings anywhere in the park, no matter how many layers of objects were blocking it - and they were big! Unfortunately, this is a problem with the way RCT3 handles certain fireworks.

A quick sample of how to build with some of the new pieces.

....Thanks to all who commented -- I hope you enjoy, as this is my final pack for RCT3.

Wow, I'm sorry, this is going to sound really stupid but I am kind of working on a space mountain set. should I just let you do this and myself hold off on it?

looks great by the way, May I suggest that you use the texture style SIopaqueUnlit for the stars, it makes them stay bright during the day and at night (twlight zone theme)

DRP -that's ok! Are you building mainly interior stuff, or exterior? Because in the long run, they can compliment each other (see your DPR Lights have already complimented the bottom row of pix). Oh, the stars --I have them on OpaqueUnlit - but thank you for making the suggestion!

Its mainly interior, the tunnels with the strobe lights, etc. the only thing that is truly exterior is the cannon from space mountain DLP.

DRP - That's great actually, I'm not working on any of those, but they sound like awesome ideas that can be combined with this set for those who choose to mix 'em. I'm not working on an actual Space Mountain, but with the new wall sets, you'll be able to create something very close in resemblance due to the new angles introduced. The geometry on this was the most complex to model - my worse nightmare, but the end results freaked me out when everything finally interlocked.

Rybo-XL - those are Star Panels -- but there will "spacey" particle effects for sure.

This looks like another great set JCat & one that is much needed for the game. The "Space" theme from the original game is lacking in having much content & this will surely fill the void.

Here we go again... I can already see a few possibilities with your set. If anyone of the MANY Six Flags parks out there sees it too, this would be great around a Superman ride. His "Temple of Solitude" or whatever he calls it.

o0o0o0o0o... pretty lights. Those walls look spectacular. That middle right picture reminded me of air-traffic control towers in airports. Keep it up!

This sounds great. If you don't mind me asking, would you make a Western Worx or something when you are done with the space one? I can't find any new western sets for my parks.

This looks like another smash set JCat!

I love the walls, they look very EPCOT Center/Future World-ish. I see a lot of uses for them.

Lovin' it!
