Icon4 2007 GT-500 would be sweet - GT-H too?

How many people here want the 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT-500 included in the game? It would be really neat to race the 67 versus the 07 ... 40 years of tradition. And, even neater, it could be in the Shelby showroom since Shelby actually was behind the car.

It wouldn't really take a lot of modification for the dev's to the Mustang GT to get it to look like the GT-500. It has some minor front fascia differences, different rocker panels, some differences in the rear end of the car, and a few minor interior differences. The big difference is under the hood where a 5.4L supercharged V8 cranks out 500 bhp.

Also, it would be pretty cool if they would include some Hertz Rental Agencies in the game. I know for a fact that there are Hertz Rental Agencies on Oahu because I I've applied to rent Mustang GT-Hs there. If they could include that - that would rock, actually. Then we could rent Shelby GT-H's Now, I understand this might be a pipe dream and it takes a lot of work to add anything to the game. However, it would be really neat.

That would be amazing. Those are made by Shelby also.

That car would have 325 hp and an automatic transmission. (Carrol Shelby did some minor mods to the 4.6L). It would require minor differences on the interior and exterior too. So if you want these cars, vote yes in th poll. I think it would make the game that much sweeter. It would be very cool to have these two higher powered Mustangs in the game because otherwise Mustangs would just be starter cars. It's clear that the GT-500 is not a starter car as it will run with Corvettes and Vipers. I also want to see some Camaros in the game -- but that was a poll for another post.

While I'm thinking about it, the ability to auction your ride online would be pretty cool also. What gave me that idea is the fact that the GT-H is actually being auctioned off to the public as a collector car. It would be really neat to see a few of them out on the street like that, just like in real life. Maybe these cars wouldn't even need to be released with the release of the game. I've heard that a limited number of cars would be released on a timeframe determined by the dev's. Maybe the GT-H could be one of those limited run cars.

Of course, this is just a dream post. But, it's okay to dream, right? That seems to be the entire premise of the game. Taking what was once a dream and converting it into a virtual reality.

They would be excellent cars in the game, but their will be a lot of Stangs in there already. With a game of only so many cars, there has to be variety.

Well, there are three Mustangs at the moment. I just find it a bit odd that they chose the GT over the GT-500 as the GT-500 has more pedigree than the GT. I like the GT, heck, my family owns one (not an 05). But, it seems like the GT-500 is more in line with the game in some respects.

I guess I'm not too worried. They can always add them to an expansion pack.

Yeah, the original 67 GT-500 is in the game. There's a new 07 with a 5.4L supercharged V8 making 500hp.

Wow, someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed. A simple yes or no would have been fine -- hence why I have a poll on the top. In case you didn't know it already, a lot of people like Mustangs and Shelbys so if you don't, that's too bad.

Shelby just slapped his name on the new GT500. It was really developed by SVT.

The GT-H just pays tribute to the old Hertz rental car. Unlike the '07 GT500, this one is actually built in Shelby's factory. They should be available to buy in 3-5 years.

That is not true. Shelby did not just slap his name on it. He had a lot of input on the car.

Shelby Approves
Ford is calling the car a unique collaboration between the legend Carroll Shelby and the Ford Special Vehicle Team (SVT). "I've worked with the SVT guys for several years now," says Shelby. "And I know they have the guts, the talent and the passion to deliver the best performance Mustangs ever."

Shelby, who built the legendary Shelby Mustangs and Shelby Cobras in the 1960s, served as a senior advisor to the "Dream Team" that was assembled inside the Ford Motor Company to develop and build the 2005 Ford GT supercar.

"Carroll Shelby is truly a living automotive legend, a Ford performance legend," says Phil Martens, Ford group vice president of Product Creation. "It's a dream come true to be able to put the Shelby name on a Mustang again."
It says right in that edmunds.com article that Shelby had a lot of collaboration. It's cool if you want to post information, but at least get your information right.

Shelby served as an advisor. He may have had major input, but the real credit does go to SVT. They are the ones who build the cars.

"The Ford Special Vehicle Team brought high performance back to Mustang in 1993. After 12 years, with nearly 80,000 high-performance Mustangs on the streets and total SVT vehicle production nearing 145,000, SVT is primed for growth with the GT500 serving as the foundation for other performance Mustang projects.

By bringing together Shelby and Ford SVT, the company’s commitment to performance becomes as powerful as at any time in its history – including the famed “Total Performance” days of the 1960s. From the Ford GT supercar, the GT500, to a rejuvenated Ford Racing Performance Parts program, performance and racing can drive innovation and add luster to Ford’s proud brand heritage.

“SVT will remain the leader in performance vehicle engineering,” says Thai-Tang. “It will continue to build new, innovative products using advanced processes that will not only provide great enjoyment to the dedicated driving enthusiast, but that also will provide great benefit to other Ford products and Ford Motor Company itself.”

The Ford Shelby GT500 will be built at the Ford-Mazda joint venture, AutoAlliance International, in Flat Rock, Mich."

Being Shelby advised the building of it, and being Ford's SVT team being the place where it's built, I would most definately say Shelby got his name on it for just advising it. That and the GT500 name is most likely a licensed name under him.

I agree with what you said here .. this is all true. It's just that your other post kind of made it sound like Ford was slapping Shelby's name on a vehicle that he had no input on.

No, Ford just announced they'll start selling GT-H-like Mustangs now. People will probably start referring to them as GT350s.

This really ruins the point though of bringing back the Mustang GT-H model though.

If you read there, they're not selling Shelby GT-H -- they are auctioning a few as exclusives.

The only car that is being SOLD is the Shelby GT (no H). It's the same car as the Shelby GT-H but it won't be offerd in the traditional black and gold. It's a similar car, but the body treatment is slightly different, and so are the colors offered.
