When do you choose tech/science?

I'm playing the english demo and I'm level 5 and notice I need 10% technology skill or something... Is this something you get later on? If so, why such a low level requirement?

your choice of accepting and completing certain side quests will shift your loyalty either in favor of technology or nature.

The first quest that gives you technology alignment is the one given by the blacksmith. You can also gain technology alignment in the demo with the quest involving the hunters. At first it's a nature quest, but once you get to the hunters, you can decide to change it in a technology quest.

Additionally when you do a nature quest while being technology oriented, you'll shift toward neutral and nature (say you're at 10% technology, you'll fall down at 0%, or even go at 5% nature depending on how much alignment the quest gives).
