Developers keep Silverfall from "falling" into the...Bargain Bin!

I have to say that Silverfall really looks promising. It's kinda like what Darkstone should have been with the graphics. As such, unless this feature is already permentently coded into the game, I truly hope the MAP setup is reworked.

It's absolutely frustrating to look at the map (top right of screen), and when you make your character go left, he appears to go right; or up and down. This is the kind of bad design that just kills games. No game is perfect, but Silverfall really looks like a breath of fresh air in the RPG arena, cool new goons, spells, and sounds.

So please Developers, if it's possible, take a look at the MAP setup. It's definitely frustrating moving your character in the world. Many times I would start to fight a goon, and while retreating I'd get stuck behind an object and die because I didn't know where I was. And that really made me want to snap my teeth off at the gum line. I really feel the MAP setup will be this game's demise if not reworked.

I've been playing games for over 20 years, and I'm no stranger to all the genres (RPG, Strategy, FPS's, 3rd Person Shooters, Adventure, etc), so one thing I know for certain is, "listen to your gaming community." Again, if it took completely reprogramming the game to fix the MAP setup, then obviously that will never happen. But it sure would be great to see Silverfall hit the shelves instead of the Bargain Bin.

I had no -real- problem with the way my character faces, but I did have a problem with how the NPC's have different colors on the map. Makes it hard to differentiate vendors between quest givers/guards and refugee's.

They really just need to keep the map arrow locked in the direction you character moves not let it follow the camera.

No. That's waht like that on the French demo and in the release, and it were much more difficult to know where you were going. Every single person who played the French demo and talked on the official forum agreed to that. It's much easier to know where you going with the arrow on the minimap facing the direction of your screen and not your character.

As for the minimap, north is always up and your character move on it. For some it is better than having the minimap always synced to the screen direction and north moving around as you turn your screen, for others it's the other way around.

I think if you took a pole of gamers with regard to facing the right way, it would be a no-brainer response. I think the best way to describe playing Silverfall at this juncture would be say "traveling North in your car on a freeway, only driving in reverse" -- so it's hard to believe that it's a 50/50 split with player preference on basic direction. That being said, a check box would be sweet; my guess it's already hardcoded into too much of the game; I'm hoping I'm wrong. Have a good one guys!
