Test Drive Unlimited PC Patch

Atari confirm that Eden are currently working on a patch for the PC version of Test Drive Unlimited which will be available in May. With the patch Eden are working to address the following issues:
  • Corrupted saved games (previously corrupted save games will not be restored)
  • Game freezing / crashes
  • Performance optimization
  • In-game exploits
The patch will undergo thorough testing at Eden and Atari prior to release to ensure the quality. Further information will be available in due course. Thank you for playing Test Drive Unlimited.

Not a single mention of DLC.

So the first relase date is set in May, so we should expect it to come out around Thanksgiving?
Just trying to follow the same timeline the 360 users have been feed.

Should we expect the same "thorough testing" that we saw with the digital download release? That shipped with 2 back to back game breaking bugs...

Sweet mother of all games! Magnificent news! At last! No more whining (possibly), less cheats! And it will run flawlessly on GeForce 8-series!

It's worth waiting, i'm so frickin happy! (although still it wasn't nice to release an unfinished game...)

Have a cookie Atari and Eden!

Can we get some info about DLC now?

No Gaurantee it will run flawlessly on 8 series, only time will tell... The only way this will run flawlessly on 8 Series will be with a combination of Patch from Atari and better Nvidia drivers.

If they were smart they'd do what EA does with BF2142 (others might do it as well, it's just BF2142 is like the only other online PC game I play) and do a little closed beta test with the patch among the community as well as the in house testing. I am quite sure that the game works well enough as is on Atari's PCs, but it obviously doesn't on every consumer's PC.

Not sure how feasible that is with the way the servers are set up though. They could at least do an offline beta however.

Atari tried the beta testing patch route with the NWN2 developer.
It failed, horribly. Besides, open beta testing would surely screw up online play.

Yeah, I made a club, but it seems that they don't really work, because I've noticed that no one else has made any at all. So I'm thinking that they're not working correctly. And let's hope with the patch they stop the cheating that is going on. Off topic I know, but has anyone noticed some of the times posted on some of the user created challenges?? Like one challenge I tried was a quarter mile drag race, and the time was like 2.5 seconds, and with an Audi TT Quatro !!! There's no way in hell that an Audi TT is faster than a Saleen S7 or a Chrysler MC12!! And one Ford only race I tried, the fastest time was made by someone on a M4 motorcycle!! Crazy ****!!!!

Well fixing the stuttering might be under the category of "Performance optimization"

And then there's other much smaller bugs such as when driving the Mercedes CLS 55 AMG (I think that's the right model). If you switch to the first person bumper camera view the speedometer acts as the tach and tach as the speedometer. I'm sure that fix would take 2 seconds for the coders to solve.

Hey, my Trans Am does something weird with the tach too when i switch from cokcpit to bumper view. The rev limit thing is different.

Ermm...

A patch, woohoo!

Edit: I think it was the trans am anyway.

I also hope they will fix the digital dashboards... i mean we have the GPS working in the Nissan 350z, why isn't the chrono working in the Mustang GTR or the dash on Kawasaki bikes...

And the "reverse reflection" bug should be fixed too

You must be on the wrong board, because everyone has SOME sort of trouble with TDU. Period. Are you sure it's Test Drive Unlimited your playing?

Boot.ini Killer

The patch for gameplay is good...and the patch for uninstallation would be good!
The uninstallation process of TDU erases also "boot.ini" file (in Windows XP), the protected system file.
This important problem was reported in beta test version...why does the problem remain in production version?
This problem should be erased in the following patch!

I like the idea of adding new cars in the patch and not ones you have to pay for....It'd be nice if they added the ability to customize your car more, other than just painting it. You know kinda like, dare I say NFS: Carbon. At least that game runs smooth as silk during gameplay.....

The only thing I need is ability to map functions to more than 1 controller so I don't have to swap reassign controls from wheel to joystick when I want to race a motorcycle!
