Unleashed Tutorials

Tutorials are now at TPB3d-Unleashed
Check it out!!!!

Now offering hosting of all RCT3 files.

To Do:
  • Update old importer tutorials.
  • Create New tutorials on list.

  • Bins(Video & Written)
  • Animated Textures(Written)
  • Transparent Textures(Written)
  • Texture Styles(Written)
  • Extra Parameters(Written)
  • Importing multiple objects(Video & Written)
  • Specifics on effect Points(Video)
  • Particle Effects(Video & Written)
  • Firework Emmiters(Video & Written)
  • Special Attractions(Written)
The list is now in order of which they will be completed. If you wont this order to change post what you want changed and the urgency, also remember that I have not actually created everything mentioned in the list below, while I have created most I still need to learn the finner details before creating a tutorial on them. Some tutorials have to be created before others e.g. 'specifics on effect points' needs to be created before 'Firework Emmiters' and 'Particle Effects', this is due to the fact that in these tutorials I will expect you to already have an understanding of effect points.

If you want another tutorial added to this list, please state what you want it to include and the format('Written' or 'Video' or 'Video & Written')

Yeh I will create a video tutorial on stall, to add a vertice simply use the text tool. A vertice is well basically a dot in simple terms, it cannot be textured. So place the text where you want to have your effect point.

Big thanks to the Skipper for adding this page to the stickied tutorials list.

Your question is now answered, view the tutorial in the first thread. The Tutorial is listed under videos, just find Making Custom Stalls.

Hope you like.

I am glad this has helped you coastermagic. I love to see new CS creators in the forums and I think this is the best way, like their are heaps of other tutorials around but they are for blender and other programs, I realize SketchUp is a very simple program so I thought if I were to make tutorials what better program to base it on.

Nice work on this Oz, this thread is awesome. I give you five stars, your tutorials have helped me so much, I wish their was something I could do in return. I just had a look at your site and I was wondering if you could maybe add some more to your FAQ's(Frequently Asked Questions) page. Things like this will make it much easier for all us CS noobs and the more FAQ's you have the better. Thanks again for all your work Oz.

Thanks, I am glad they have helped you. I will be adding some more FAQ's to my site soon, I have been meaning to add some but have had no time. Also I do not expect anything in return for these tutorials, I do it because I love to see the satisfaction people get when releasing their first set/s.

Great job Oz!

I have a suggestion for one thing I haven't seen covered...you have an excellent tutorial on using the importer (it really helped make it easy to understand with all the screenshots), but that covers importing ONE object, perhaps a small tutorial on importing MULTIPLE objects (like parts to a set). I figured it out myself through trial and error, but a quick overview might help others.

BTW - I have my first five pieces imported. A little clean up on a couple textures and they'll be ready!

Thanks wagi, I have added importing multiple objects to my list. I am unsure when I will get this done as my screen recording software's trial just ran out, I will try to find a good free program. If anyone knows of a good one please let me know.

I like the custom stalls video, it taught me heaps. Just so you know, i think with your billboard tutorial you used the wrong screenshot for the sids picture.

LOL! thanks for the tip on the tutorial, I wonder how many people got cunfused by that, well its fixed now. I'm glad you like the tutorial on custom stalls.

I have just added an alignment picture for SketchUp which is used for UV mapping objects like scrolling signs, billboards and park entrances. You can download this from the first post, it is listed under "Other Downloads".

When creating the ovl and you are adding the model, select 'edit' in the 'transformation matrix' frame and select 'fix orientation'. This will make the object appear the correct way in the game.

You select that in the game, with the importer just select the type food, drink or other, then with custom stalls you have to set the buyable items in the game. If you place your stall then try to open it, it will not open until you set the things to sell.

What greyed out button, you need to be more specific. Can you see what it says or tell me where it is located.

'Carried Items' this is objects for people to carry(I think I do not know full details) this is currently not possible but will hopefully be possible when the next update of the importer comes out.

Nice work on this thread Oz, it looks really professional. It is much easier to follow, I was wondering if you could add information on the flags and unknowns on your first post. Other then that this is great. Keep up the great work, its good to see people willing to use their spare time to help others.

Thanks, I could do that but the problem is that the information on this was presented by Belgabor so I would have to get his permission to use it, I would add to this to make it more informative.

Did you have separate groups in Sketchup, also did these appear seperatly in the importer when you added the model. Can you upload a picture of when you first load the textures when setting up the ovl and also upload a picture of the main screen when adding loading the model into the ovl.

ok to fix that ^ the problem is that when you made this object in Sketchup you did not apply different groups for different textures. So go back to Sketchup find out which faces use the same texture then group them i.e. if you have 5 different textures you should have 5 different groups. Make sure you give each group a corresponding name to the texture and then make sure you have none of your groups selected then press the ase export. This time when you are exporting and the window pops up just like in the first picture you posted you should see the names of all your separate groups also when you get to the same spot as the bottom picture you will notice in the Groups(Meshes) frame that you can see all of your different groups, now just apply the correct texture to each groups and the little light should go green when it is set up correctly.

Yeh no problem, thats what I'm here for.

Did you create your icon sheet 512x512 pixels and what picture format did you use.
Have you viewed my icon sheet tutorial listed under general.

Oz that new tutorial on recolorable textures is great, I really liked how you gave us an overview of indexed colors and the different file formats etc. It was very informative and it is very similar in photoshop, not exactly the same but it is is to figure out of this tutorial. Nice work yet again Oz, I cannot wait to see your next tutorial(hopefully it will be bins and seats, fingers crossed[hint, hint]) nah no pressure take your time and do which one you want.

Thanks again for everything (I wish it would let me rate this thread again, I would give it another 5 star rating).
