[CFR][REL] PIRATE SHIP- Download Now!

~ PIRATE SHIP ~
By Jonnyears & Imagineer John

It's done! Hoorah and stuff! Remember to read the Read Me I have included in the file, as some of you may not have downloaded a CFR before, and it explains where this needs to go!

DOWNLOAD

------------------------------------------------
ORIGINAL POST:

For now, here's a picture of the Pirate Ship that'll be released soon for your peeps to ride soon! It was modelled by myself, with Imagineer John doing the animation etc.

The blue, red, and green areas are recolourable and it'll hold 32 peeps.

Before the final, working ride gets imported, I wanted to get any comments that you may have so that I can improve the model before there's no going back!

This is awesome! I love Pirate ship rides! It looks really good so far, and I am really sure it will come in handy.

But one thing I dont like is how the recolorable parts are so bright, mabey dim them down juts alittle.

If I'm not mistaken, someone else was working on a similar project. But you seem to be further ahead. It looks amazing! Much more realistic than the Atari one! I agree with simtanic8 though; would it be possible to dim down the colors? The current colors don't seem to fit with the RCT3 harmony too well. Other than that, I have no complaints. Swinging ships are staple rides of any park, this one will definitely be useful for all of us!

The colors are perhaps a bit too vivid, at least for this ride. And the loading area is somewhat plain; not that it would be the biggest deal to me. Making a CFR is hard enough, I don't want to make it harder for you. The ride itself is really good, and it looks very realistic. It's much better than the one in RCT3 right now, so I think it will get a lot of usage.

I would add some texture to the supports (red part). It looks to bright. Maybe add a ruff texture to it to look a little older.

It's an excellent model, but is that really the texture you want for a pirate ship?

The colors are very bright and the textures aren't very realistic. I know nothing about modeling and making these things though so i can't really help you any further.

i is guessing you are making the short stumpy version and not the big version :

This Image Was Automatically Resized by using the Shot Tag. Click to view the full version

if you are making the bigger version there is something which makes it look strange...

look cool.. but seen like a ramp has slope over and need to make ramp correct and include the fence by the ramp.

Pirate Ship need to put spot around the galleon with the window, cannon, mast, crow's nest, captain cabin, anchor, helm wheel, and anything that look very best.

It looks great Jonnyears! My only critique is the platform. The texture looks all stretched out and fake and the steps or step looks a little odd. Maybe try to simulate the platform in the second picture Stu posted. But other than that, I think this looks really nice and I'm glad we can have a generic swinging ship instead of a pirate one all the time.

Yes; finally someone has created a better pirate ship
It looks really good, but I think there are some things that could could change.
  1. It would look much better if there was a mast in the middle of the boat, but I have no idea of, if it's too hard to do make one.
  2. I don't think the texture on the boat itself fits with the rest of the ride. I find it a little blurry looking while the steel construction is perfectly sharp.

Hello again, everyone! Thanks for all the positive comments. I really didn't know what I needed to do to improve the model but thanks to you, I have lots of new ideas! Now, onto answering questions, don't be offended if I haven't replied to you directly, I'm sure your answer will be found somewhere in this post!

I was planning to make the loading station as plain as possible really, because then, you can easily customise it with all the released custom scenery sets. I was just planning to do the ramp/stairs to get onto the boat, and then you can build it up how you want with CS. That's not to say that I wont be adding more details now to the platform, as suggested in other comments.

Also.. here's an idea! If you use the tool to have invisible paths, it's very possible to make this just like the real ones, with a hole in the bottom! That's why I haven't modelled anything beneath the actual boat, so you can do this!

The texture used for the recolourable parts are the same as the ones that JCat/Pumper used for Steelworx. Where it is just a single-shaded square. Though, you are quite right, it doesn't look right on a ride like this! I will sort it out with a more realistic texture.

I shall be adding these parts now. Particularly the crow's nest in the centre.. which is a must-have for all Pirate Ships!

As suggested, the steel parts wont look so 'perfect' texture wise.. so the boat wont look out of place as much. But the textures can always be improved!

Indeed so!

Blimey, this is a long post! Thanks again. I shall start improving the boat right now!

Well, Imagineer John is kind enough for putting a lot of work into this, so I wouldn't want to make him do it again! As soon as I can do it completely by myself, I plan to make more, I was thinking of doing something like the 'Bash Street Bus' from Chessington.

Nice ride you have there! The only thing, the ship looks a little simple.. Like stu said, that little stump thing on the front, and maybe some fancy lights at the backside ?

Thanks! Just a little update, the texture of the wood on the boat has been updated, and will now be recolourable! I have built up the ends of the boat, with detail being added now.. and there is a mast in the middle!

I will see about lights.. because I was going for the kind of Pirate Ship for a theme park, which never seem to have obvious lights on.. so I was going to leave it without, and then you can use Vodhin's Light Set or whatever to light it up. Though, I'd like to see what everyone else thinks!

It's 5x10, but it may change by a square or two.. when it gets to Blender, it will have to be resized, so it could be slightly bigger, slightly smaller. but somewhere around 5x10.

Looks great Jonny! I doubt most people will color the structure red and green...how does it look recolored to colors most people WILL use? Like black, gray, browns or lighter greens. Those might look perfect.

The only question I would have is whether you have tried Vodhin's coaster lights to see if they actually line up or not.

Otherwise this looks great!

Thanks, sir! It was stupid to colour it bright green, red, and blue.. it looks hideous in those colours! I will import it again shortly, and I will colour it black, brown etc.

I would hope that Vodhin's coaster lights would line up.. but as I say, when it goes into Blender, it will be resized slightly so I have no way of knowing yet. If the key areas are lined up the the edges of squares though, hopefully Vodhin's lights will line up.
