Potential Summer Showdown '09 List- Important Update 6/13
Dear Friends,
Recently there has been a renewed interest in a summer competition. While -Nuclear Fish- has been the one to handle these "Showdown" competitions, I feel there is no harm in maybe helping him out a bit, or getting the ball rolling if he doesn't come back or is uninterested. So, that being said, please post in this thread if you are interested in being picked to participate in the Summer Showdown '09. Please include the following: 1. Your user name (duh.) 2. A link to either a park or a ride that you have posted on these forums. As was the case with last summer's competition, this will be an invite-only competition, team based. I will create a thread in the Competitions page as the beginning of the competition draws nearer. Please help spread the word to those who might not see this page. We want as many qualified participants as possible. (Yes, if I end up running the comp, that means I can't participate, so even MORE reason why you should sign up, it'll be that much easier. )Thanks a lot, everyone. Let's hope this is a great competition! -maskedbandit101 -----------EDIT---------------- 6/13: Applicants List Updated Plokoon111 Liamrocks P8ntball Supermarioman Tigerlemurguy LoneWolf7 evenstar13 03gibbss Chapman278 Themeparknerd Obi_Wan_Cannoli . style . _dockers BGTB2005 Gluesniffa Flying Dutchman7 Eagle Eye SVT 305 CoasterJoe LostThought15 Cedar Point Kylr23 KingVeveraine Johnycanon8 Littleguy29 Immelman Crowheart Towersdude Willo22sly Jerr_Oen Pasaway -Nuclear Fish- Rct3parkmake MGP2300 RCT Enthusiast RCT-Extremist Luke1990 The Dave coinich Orez CTRSind Tylor Dutcher The GOAT Gavt1976 If I've missed your name, please repost, I want everyone that's interested to be put on the list. Important Information: Updated 6/5 Teammates = There will be seven teams, headed up by a captain. The captain will be chosen by maskedbandit101. = Once captains have been announced, drafting will begin, with a random drawing for drafting order. Captains will draft in that order. The captain who has the last pick in the first round will have the first pick in the second round, etc. = It is the captain's choice how many teammates he or she wants, with the minimum being two. Drafting will continue until all captains have the desired amount of teammates. There is no maximum to number of teammates. = If a teammate cannot continue once the competition has started, the captain can draw from the list of applicants who were not chosen to act as a replacement. If a captain chooses not to replace the member, that is fine, too. It is ultimately the captain's decision. Challenges = The competition will last 6 weeks from the start of the first challenge. = There will be 4 challenges, with two 'catch up weeks.' = The schedule is: Challenge, Challenge, Catch Up, Challenge, Challenge, Catch Up. = Challenges will be specific enough to fit a theme decided by maskedbandit101, but generic enough to allow for creative building. = Challenges might include building a ride, a collection of rides, a restaurant or other building. = During the 'catch up weeks' there will be a teaser requirement from each team, to tease something in the competition park thus far. More details to follow, but it will be simple enough to not interfere with general building. Voting/Submission = Voting will be blind and done by the community after the 6th week of competition. = All materials for submission will be sent to maskedbandit101 = Details on what to submit for final voting to follow. However, pictures, videos, descriptions, and park download files will most likely be included. Remember, you're trying to sell your park/present it as best as possible. = All parks will be presented on a separate website, to maintain blind voting. Dates/Time Frame = The application process will end sharply at 12:00 AM Central Time on Monday, June 15. = The assigning of captains will begin at 12 Noon Central Time on Tuesday, June 16 and finish Monday, June 22 at 12:00 Noon Central Time. = Drafting for teams will begin Monday, June 22 at 1:00 PM Central Time. = The first challenge will be announced at 11:00 AM Central Time on Monday, June 29 = The second challenge will be announced at 11:00 AM Central Time on Monday, July 6 = The third challenge will be announced at 11:00 AM Central Time on Wednesday, July 15* = The fourth challenge will be announced at 11:00 AM Central Time on Wednesday, July 22 = The deadline for submitting all materials for voting is 11:59 PM on Friday, August 7. =Voting will begin on Monday, August 10. * I have changed the date for this challenge because I am moving from Chicago to Houston on Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th. I will be unavailable during these two days. Therefore, the entire competition from that point on has been moved back 2 days. IF THIS SCHEDULE DOES NOT WORK FOR A LARGE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE, I CAN PUSH IT BACK ONE WEEK, MAKING THE SUBMISSION FOR VOTING AUGUST 12. WITH THIS SCHEDULE, THOUGH, IT ALLOWS A LITTLE FLEXIBILITY IN CASE A SMALL EXTENSION IS NEEDED. INPUT IS APPRECIATED. Miscellaneous = If you want your name added/removed from this list, please request it in this thread. = If you want to include your timezone/general location for drafting purpose, please post it in the NEW THREAD when it begins. = If your name isn't on the list, and an update has gone by without you being added, please repost in this thread. Thanks. All Dates/Information Subject to Change

This contest defiantly helped renew my interest in building parks. I think it wouldn't be that bad if I tried it again.

I doubt I will have any time to compete in this, but if you need a hand otherwise, maskedbandit... you know where to find me.

I haven't tried a Summer Showdown before, so I'd be willing to give it a shot.

I don't know if I'd have time to compete, with moving to a whole new country and all, but I'm available to help in any way, Maskedbandit.

The Winter Showdown was a lot of fun so Summer Showdown should be good aswell! ;D I'm going on holiday for a week sometime but other than that I should be fine. And if it works in the same way as the winter showdown then I'm sure two people could manage looking after the park!
Anyway onto the form! ![]() Username: 03gibbss Latest Park: http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums...d.php?t=673102 Current Project: http://i43.tinypic.com/2d6p89c.jpg Looking forward to watching or taking part! ;D Should hopefully be an interesting one! Themeparknerd, sure, unposted is fine, just whatever you want to use as your "application photos."
