Icon23 Geauga Lake - New ride's!

Please note: This is NOT a recreation, more like an "this is how it could have been" thread. I've never been in the park, or in the States so ...
The reason why I start this in the rides section is because alot of the first update's will be the construction of the first coaster. I will be happy if I can finish this coaster, so if I'm able to start a park around it, I will ask the mods to change the section. Thanks!

1925 - Geauga Lake

The recreation domain of Geauga Lake becomes property of William Goldberg. He plans a great change for this plot of land. Themeparks are becoming very popular around this period and he wants his share in the wealth one can gather with a park.
He decides to give John Miller a green light to start the design and construction of one of America's biggest coasters: project SkyRocket.
After a full year of preparations the first concrete is poured into the ground and soon vertical construction begins.
William Goldberg decides to cancel all other building activities untill this coaster has proven to be safe for the public. This to make sure that his investment is safe.

Hold on for the next update later this week...

It's not so easy indeed! I had to look to many pictures of wooden supports before I was finally satisfied with the ones I created in rct3. It's alot of work, but the coaster looks waaaaaaaaay better! Thanks!

Thank you! I know that the coaster won't be a perfect match. I've never been to the park and the only thing I used where plans an pictures of the early 70's. I just liked the atmosphere back in those days I decided to create a park about it. The cars of the coaster still have a good speed so it was necessary to bank the turn. It's just af fun element to finish the ride too. Hope you understand why I changed certain things

1925 - Geauga Lake

6 full weeks after the first vertical construction, John Miller is already one week behind schedule. Some of the wooden beams were from a very bad quality so they had to sort them out and wait for new ones. To catch up with origal schedule, John Miller hired a second team of construction workers, they will start building at the end of the ride while the other team continues at the start. The men are now constructing the second big hil of the ride and they also completed some of the final bunny-hups. Those hills will bring much airtime to anyone crazy enough to ride this coaster! This construction is also getting alot of attention from the public, and that is great advertisement!

The mighty first drop of this wild beast:

Stay tuned for more...

This is turning into something great, it's really well supported and the realism you have given it makes it even better. Also, what has happened to Thunderpark as it was one of my favourite parks?

Thank you guys! I was really worried that the supports wouldn't turn out that great, but fortunately I like the result myself too.

1925 - Geauga Lake

Great news: the coaster has finally been finished. 12 weeks after the first wooden beam has been placed. Good to let you know that the construction is back on shedule. The trains will be delivered within three weeks. A special company is going to start building the station, they should start building tomorrow. Nothing but good news so far!

Thight turns and nice airtime hills, this coaster will be a hit!

More news & construction tomorrow!

1925 - Geauga Lake

6 months have passed since the last update. As the tests with Thunderbird proved to be quite succesfull, William Goldberg decided to give a green light for the recreation area that is to be constructed around the coaster.

You can see some early pictures at the end of this update. The general idea was to give guests the "wow!"-feeling from the moment they park their car on the parkinglot. It situated directly next to the coaster, so you will be amazed from the moment you quit your car. After walking towards the entrance located between green trees and directly under the great coaster, you can enter the park. This park will be a green oasis for both young and old with the most spectacular attractions.

You find a small selection below:

Betty's Dancing School will be a challenge for the girls. Daily shows with some of the best dance performers in Ohio! Can you keep up with the rythm? Have a try yourself!

Garden Gazebo will be a place to relax and sit down while enjoying a real band playin' live music.

When riding Ol' Timers, parents have to sit in the back while kids are in charge of this crazy cars. Wach out, turn ahead!

Bowling Alley will be a challenge for all the boys visiting the park. Can you beat dad? Even sisters can give it a try!

Last, but certainly not least, everyone is invited on the craziest ride in the park: Thunderbird. Dare you ride one of the biggest wooden coasters in the world?

Now, I know how tormenting building a Custom supported woodie in RCT3 can be. However, you've really done a good job on yours! Well done, I also love the B&W affect you put on your photos.

Thank you! I found it quite amusing making this custom supported coaster. I had more the feeling I was building it myself Great everyone likes it that much!

1925 - Geauga Lake

Just a small update with a request:

Does anyone have any ideas for attractions that could be found in an 1925 amusement park? POST THEM PLEASE!
Links, pictures, descriptions...
They can be RCT attractions, but it could also be stuff like a bowling, dancing schoold, rock climbing wall, love tunnel, ... whatever!
Famous classic rides from around the 1950's are also very welcome!

THANK YOU!

Thank you!

Hi, have to say I am enjoying the park, I live nearby what is left of the park. I only visited after Six Flags took over the park and destroyed it. Horribly run, dirty, and everthing was broken. Glad Cedar Fair bought it as Cedar Point was my home park, but sad to see it close. Here is a great link for pics of the park and ride ideas. Hope it helps. I know you are not doing a recreation, but I would say you can get a lot of ideas for a park from the pics of the old buildings and rides. http://www.geaugalaketoday.com/
One critique, I really think the entrance to the park needs some work, seems very plain and the small side building of wood with rock on top looks odd and stucturally unrealistic. Just my 2 cents.

Love the black and white effect!

This park looks simply great !!!

And for the rides i would say maybe some rowing boats, classical merry-go-round, hmmm... swinger? or tilt-a-whrill? You could also add a circus, hotel, small water park or just a compact indoor swiming pool complex. For the next coaster I can see wooden wild mouse or, better idea, virginia reel!

Good luck with this one

Hopefully this park doesn't end like its real-world counterpart; Merging with a water park across the lake, losing its main coasters, losing Time Warner sponsorship, and ending up being disassembled.

I'll definitely be following this.

Geauga Lake was also my home park, until those greedy Cedar Fair executives decided that they wanted to close it. I'll miss the place. I'll have to see if I can find any pictures of the place for you.

Right now, I think, The Big Dipper is the only ride still standing. All the others have been relocated or scrapped. Many of the buildings are still there though.

It was the whole Six Flags thing that ruined
Geauga Lake, which made it a perfect oppurtunity for Cedar Fair to swoop in and shut the park down. Cedar Point has always had a grudge against Geauga Lake. Probably because a bunch of ex cedar point execs bought geauga lake in the 50's.

The Wolf Bobs is still partially standing, and I believe the space needle is still standing and still stuck in the middle of the tower. I was at Cedar Point a couple weeks ago and saw the Double Loop trains sitting under Mean Streak, to bad the rest of the loop became scrap. the Double Loop was my first rollercoaster ride.

Just bumping this, even though you have it on hold.

Last I heard that the needle was going to be shipped to Africa. Don't think that worked out. Maybe when I go to Cedar Point next week I'll get to see the trains.

This was also my home park too, I went there almost every day of the summer. When Cedar Fair bought it it was run much better even though they ended up selling it to build condos.

I love the park so far, excited to see how it turns out.

This is great and inspiring! I love the buildings! It reminds me of a six flags park. I miss ventage cars too. They are one of the many under used rides in RCT3... but yet again , they are old..
